🚨 Travelling between Britain and Ireland by ferry? Don’t assume the ID you used last time will still get you onboard.
New documentation requirements came into effect on affected ferry services from 28 September 2026, with operators requiring passport documentation on major Britain–Republic of Ireland crossings.
That means relying on your driving licence or another form of photo ID could cause problems at check-in.
Before travelling:
🛂 Check your passport
⛴️ Check your ferry operator’s requirements
👨👩👧 Check the documents required for everyone travelling
📲 Save this post before your next crossing
And send it to someone travelling to Ireland soon.
