Making sure a proper brand is properly protected matters. When Jon Corns told me about Earls Golf, I knew straight away this was a brand worth protecting properly. He is a former assistant professional at The Belfry and Celtic Manor, reached final qualifying for The Open Championship, and is returning to the game after years away.

Looking to sell your business?

Behind every business is a story, years of hard work, big decisions, challenges overcome, and something you’ve built with real care.

And beyond that, there is a new story awaiting

This major milestone deserves to be handled in a way that reflects everything that’s gone into building it.

That's what I am here for!

I’m gutted.

My local bookshop turned down my book.

They just said no. No shelf space.

Not “let me read a copy and decide” or “leave one with us”. Just a flat no.

And the big chains?

They won’t hear my voice at all. You need an agent, a publisher, and presumably a marketing budget to get a place on those tables.

Meanwhile their shelves carry “staff recommendations” for books the staff were handed by the same publishers.

So here I am. One solo author with a book I’m proud of.

Drafts, Disclaimers and Deaths. A witty office murder mystery, packed with banter, twists and a body.

If you believe indie stories deserve to be seen, here’s how you can help:

1️⃣ Buy a copy on Amazon
2️⃣ Read it, and if you enjoy it leave a 5-star review
3️⃣ Tell a friend, or share a social media post

That’s it.

Every copy, every review, every share makes a difference!

Thanks 🤩

Breaking down the big things into small, manageable chunks.

When something feels too confusing or overwhelming, having someone guide you through it step by step can make all the difference.

I’m not here to sound like the smartest person in the room. I’m here to help people actually understand what’s in front of them, and know what happens next.

If you need clarity over complexity, we’d probably work well together.

A review like this means a lot.

When people come to me, it is often at a stressful point - disputes between directors, business relationships breaking down, uncertainty about what happens next.

My job is not just the legal side. It is helping people feel informed, protected and supported while we work towards the best outcome possible.

“Professional, reliable legal support”
“Clear communication and excellent attention to detail”
“Responsive, approachable and focused on the best possible outcome”

That is always the aim.

Thank you for the kind words 🙏

Finding that line is a challenge.

But it may be one of my favourite parts of the job!

Being able to see a situation from two perspectives and finding that middle ground is what makes working with me so unique.

Why do English lawyers still sound slightly French?

Because, historically, they are.

After the Norman Conquest, the ruling classes of England spoke Norman French. Courts, government and land ownership were conducted largely in French or Latin for centuries.

Which means modern English legal drafting is still full of French fingerprints.

Some examples are obvious:

* mortgage
* estate
* tenant
* lease
* covenant
* tort
* property
* plaintiff
* defendant
* attorney
* verdict

But some are hiding in plain sight.

“Mortgage” comes from Old French mort gage - literally “dead pledge”.

Not exactly reassuring when signing a 35-year loan agreement.

“Force majeure” still appears in commercial contracts whenever the world catches fire.

“Estoppel” comes from Old French estoupail - meaning a stopper or plug. Which is fitting, because estoppel is essentially the law saying:

“You cannot now say the opposite of what you previously said.”

Even the structure of legal English reflects the Norman period.

Why do lawyers say:

* “terms and conditions”
* “null and void”
* “fit and proper”
* “cease and desist”

Because historically, one word was Germanic English and the other French or Latin. Draftsmen paired them together to ensure everybody understood.

“Will and testament” is the classic example:

* “will” = Old English
* “testament” = Latin/French

It was legal bilingualism before legal bilingualism existed.

And now the linguistic irony.

Modern French increasingly borrows English business and tech language:

* le marketing
* le deadline
* le meeting
* le coworking

Meanwhile English law is still wandering around wearing a Norman French wig from 1066.

The result is that a modern commercial solicitor in London might draft an English contract containing:

* Norman French
* Latin
* Germanic English
* American business terminology
* and a force majeure clause copied from a precedent written in 1998.

Keep sending me images of you reading my book and not yet BESTSELLING book - Drafts Disclaimers and Deaths.

You do t have to be a lawyer to enjoy it.

It’s a fun, fast paced, office based, murder mystery which everyone is rating as ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
