Temple Heelis Solicitors has been serving individuals, families, businesses and communities in South Lakeland for several generations, almost 200 years in fact.
We’ve come a long way since the days of William Heelis, who was married to children’s author and farmer, Beatrix Potter. William met Beatrix when she visited his office seeking legal advice for the purchase of a property and farmland in the Lake District. You can still visit William’s original office in Hawkshead where his predecessors founded his legal practice in 1822. W.H. Heelis & Co, went on to become Gatey Heelis, and that firm then merged with Temple & Bargh in the 1990’s to form Temple Heelis.
We are proud of our history and heritage and feel we have retained many of the best traditional values that have served previous generations well.
Temple Heelis retains a focus upon innovation so that we can continue to deliver the quality services that our clients can rely on but in ways that they should expect from a forward looking professional firm.
We have an historic connection to all three towns. Having three offices makes life convenient for our clients. It also means we offer unrivalled local knowledge which is very often a key element in us being able to deliver excellent perspective which is often relevant to achieving the best outcomes for our clients.
Many of our Team are Cumbrian born and bred. Those who came to us from other areas have embraced the region and have chosen to stay and make their life in this wonderful location.
