Decarbonising the drinks sector requires bold action, real data and collaborative innovation across the entire supply chain.

That’s why we’re looking forward to joining industry leaders at Sustainability in Drinks on Tuesday 20th October at Christ Church Spitalfields, London.

At 3:00pm you’ll find our CEO Malcolm Waugh in the Climate & Carbon Zone workshop alongside Fran Estartus and panel as they discuss "How to shape your carbon footprint credibly and add value."

Our team will be available in the Packaging Zone for a hands-on look at the Frugal Bottle and explore how switching to lower-carbon paper packaging can immediately reduce your Scope 3 emissions.

Why is measuring and reducing Scope 3 carbon emissions still one of the biggest challenges in the drinks supply chain? 🍷📦

Credible, measurable data is essential for understanding where emissions sit and where meaningful reductions can be made.

Next week at Sustainability In Drinks 2026, our CEO Malcolm Waugh will be exploring this in the Climate & Carbon Zone.

Malcolm will join Fran Estartus (IWCA), Carolin Haas (Hillebrand Gori), Tony Cleary (Lanchester), and Helena Ferreira (Adega de Borba) to discuss practical steps for brands looking to cut emissions, while creating genuine commercial value.

What’s the biggest hurdle your brand faces when tackling its carbon footprint? Let us know in the comments.

Ready to move beyond glass in North America?

The Frugal Bottle is the lower-carbon paper bottle for w**es, spirits and edible oils and we're really taking off in North America.

Made from recycled paperboard, the Frugal Bottle has a carbon footprint up to 84% lower than glass, is around five times lighter, and gives brands a fully printable 360-degree canvas to stand out on shelf.

Frugal Bottles are manufactured by Monterey W**e Company in California and KinsBrae Packaging in Ontario, providing established production capability in both the United States and Canada and their bottles with w**es and spirits have been in Target, 7-Eleven, Whole Foods and Total W**e & More to name a few.

Ever wondered where your money actually goes when you buy a £10 bottle of w**e?

A recent breakdown in The Sunday Times revealed a stark reality: just £1.93 of that £10 pays for the w**e itself. The rest goes on duty, VAT, logistics and packaging.

And when that packaging is a heavy glass bottle, the weight adds to transport costs and emissions, while squeezing the margins for producers.

Switching to paper bottles changes the equation and by adopting the Frugal Bottle, drinks brands can:
🚛 Reduce transport impact: 6x lighter than a standard glass bottle, helping cut the weight and associated costs and emissions of getting w**e from producer to consumer.
🌱 Cut packaging carbon: the Frugal Bottle delivers up to 84% lower carbon impact than glass.
🍷More value where it matters: Lighter, lower-impact packaging can help reduce costs, protect margins and leave more room to invest in the liquid inside.

Packaging is more than a container, it’s an economic driver. And moving to lighter, lower-carbon paper bottles isn't just a lower-impact alternative to glass, it’s a smarter way to get w**e from producers to consumers.

Our CEO Malcolm Waugh was delighted to attend and support Welsh Shepherd Spirits at the fantastic TUSKMASTER fundraising evening in aid of Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary
The evening brought together comedy, challenges and giving to raise vital funds to rescue, rehabilitate and protect orphaned and injured rhinos in South Africa, while supporting anti-poaching and rewilding programmes.
And with 50% of profits from Welsh Shepherd’s Care for Wild spirits going to the charity, the purpose doesn’t stop at the bottle.
Here’s to innovation, conservation, and partners who lead by example; a spirit with purpose deserves a bottle with purpose 🦏🌍
