When does sexual harassment at work cross the line into a personal injury claim?

It is not always clear - especially with the increased responsibilities now placed on employers to prevent harassment before it happens.

Our Personal Injury specialist Louise Plant explores where that line may be drawn, and what individuals should be thinking about if they have been affected.

It’s Update Your Will Week, a timely reminder to check whether your will still reflects your current circumstances and wishes.

An up-to-date will helps ensure your estate is dealt with in the way you intend and can reduce uncertainty for those close to you. It is particularly important to review your will if you have experienced a significant life event, such as a marriage, divorce, the arrival of children, or a bereavement.

As a general guide, wills should be reviewed every five years, or sooner if your situation changes.

If you would like to discuss updating an existing will or putting one in place, you can contact Emma Woollard, Partner and Head of our Wills, Trusts and Estates team, or speak with a member of the team.

The introduction of no-fault divorce has changed the landscape for separating couples in England and Wales - but avoiding blame doesn’t automatically mean avoiding conflict.

In her latest article, Georgina Rayment, Family Law Partner at Prettys, looks at the practical options available for resolving separation without going to court.

From mediation and collaborative law to solicitor-led round table meetings, Georgina explains how couples can approach separation in a more constructive, measured way, focusing on outcomes rather than accusations.

It was a pleasure for our Family Partner Georgina Rayment and Estates Partner Emma Woollard to join Rev’d Sally Letman at the Wedding Preparation Morning at St Mary, Virgin and Mother Church in Capel St Mary on 7 February.

The morning brought together 16 couples preparing to marry this year, with a focus on practical legal, financial and real-world considerations as they start their journey together.

👨‍👩‍👧 When parents separate, the way decisions are made can shape family relationships for years to come - especially for children.

As Family Mediation Week continues, it is a timely moment to reflect on the value of family mediation for parents managing separation.

Family mediation helps parents have difficult conversations in a constructive way, keeping children at the heart of every discussion. When emotions run high and communication breaks down, mediation provides a calm, structured space where both parents can be heard and supported to work towards practical solutions together.

For parents, mediation is particularly valuable because it focuses on co-operation rather than conflict. A family mediator doesn’t take sides, but helps explore options around arrangements for children, finances and future communication.

Mediation can reduce stress, save time and money, and help families avoid court proceedings, while supporting healthier co-parenting relationships that benefit children long after separation.

It also keeps control where it belongs: with you. Rather than decisions being imposed by a judge, parents can reach agreements that reflect their family’s needs and are more likely to last.

👉 Our accredited family mediator, Victoria Mayhew, can talk through whether family mediation may be right for you https://lnkd.in/e6TWNDYU

27/01/2026

This week is Family Mediation Week (26–30 January 2026) - the perfect time to highlight how family mediation can help separating families resolve issues constructively and with less conflict.

Mediation puts you in control of decisions about children and finances, helping to avoid the stress, time and cost of court proceedings.

💡 Did you know? The Government’s Family Mediation Voucher Scheme offers up to £500 towards the cost of eligible joint mediation sessions.

Our accredited mediator Victoria Mayhew is registered for the scheme and can apply for the voucher on your behalf - making the process straightforward and accessible.

Thousands of families have already used mediation to reach more amicable, child-focused outcomes.

This Christmas, our Operation Christmas Cheer appeal helped support FIND (FAMILIES IN NEED), with toys and food donated to families and individuals across the Ipswich area who need it most.

All toy donations and food (kindly donated by our wonderful staff) have now been delivered - with Nicole’s car packed to the absolute brim (proof that Tetris skills are surprisingly useful in real life 🚗🎁).

A big shout-out to everyone who helped bag, carry and load the donations - teamwork at its best.

Maria Spencer, Hendrik Van Helvert and Nicole Crown were welcomed at FIND by their incredible volunteer team - over 50 volunteers dedicate their time to packing, sorting and delivering food parcels.

FIND supports people referred through social services, charities and hostels, ensuring donations reach those most in need, and they tailor food parcels and gifts to suit each family. The team were amazed by the volume of donations (and how they fitted into one car!).

While Christmas is critical, FIND relies on year-round support, and we are delighted to support this brilliant local charity - including future volunteering opportunities.

Thank you again to everyone who played a part. You’ve helped make Christmas brighter for many!
