We're growing again!
Claire and I are delighted to welcome Bryan Scant to the Family Solutions family.
Bryan joins us from Knights plc, bringing a wealth of experience in family law, particularly in complex financial remedy and pensions cases. He is highly respected for his expertise in public sector and Armed Forces pensions, as well as his commitment to helping families resolve issues constructively wherever possible.
We're very selective about who joins our team, not just for their expertise, but because of the values they bring. That's why we're absolutely delighted that Bryan said yes.
Many people in the family law community will already know Bryan through his work with Resolution, his contribution to the Pension Advisory Group's work on pensions on divorce, and his long-standing support for Armed Forces families.

For World Su***de Prevention Day, we've reflected on the impact that working in family conflict and separation can have on our mental health.

Working in family law and dispute resolution, every member of the team meets people at some of the most difficult points in their lives. Behind the legal issues and practical decisions are often feelings of grief, loss, fear, uncertainty and trauma. Whether it's during the initial call with Hayley to make an appointment, to preparing for a meeting with one of our lawyers or mediators, we hear it, we see it and we feel it.

We also see the emotional toll that ongoing conflict can take, not only on adults but on children and the wider family network. There are cases that stay with us, everyone leaves a mark, however small.

This is why, for us, being trauma-informed is so important. It means that we look beyond behaviour, listen without judgement, recognising the experiences people may be carrying, and creating spaces where they feel heard, respected and safe.

Today is a reminder that mental health matters, that compassion matters, and that a simple conversation can make a real difference.

We’re absolutely delighted to tell you that Family Solutions has been nominated for the LexisNexis UK Family Law Awards 2026 in the category of Excellence in Non-Court Dispute Resolution (NCDR).

This nomination means a great deal to Claire Webb and Rebecca Hawkins because it recognises something they are deeply passionate about: helping families resolve disputes constructively, respectfully and outside the courtroom wherever possible. That was why the company was created in 2007.

Every day the FS team works to promote mediation, arbitration, collaborative practice, parenting coordination and other NCDR approaches, ensuring families have access to solutions that are tailored to their circumstances and focused on achieving lasting outcomes. Every client comes to us for a chat about what has happened and what they want life to be like, and we create the pathway for them. We have a team that includes therapists, family consultants, and financial neutrals. We’re so proud to work alongside lots of other expert family professionals.

We are also proud to champion legal aid, innovation and greater access to justice so that these options are available to as many families as possible. That’s why you’ll find us on committees, mentoring new mediators and developing training.

Arbitration is not:-

1) just for wealthy people
2) only for people with solicitors
3) exclusive to multi million pound settlements

Arbitration is :-

1) for everyone.

Of course, there are rules, like all NCDR options there are safeguards, and it won't be the right choice for some families. But the point is that it shouldn't be ruled out. NCDR means ALL available approaches, and they should be properly considered before and during proceedings. You'll find lots more information here - www.theflagroup.co.uk.
