Arbitration is not:-

1) just for wealthy people
2) only for people with solicitors
3) exclusive to multi million pound settlements

Arbitration is :-

1) for everyone.

Of course, there are rules, like all NCDR options there are safeguards, and it won't be the right choice for some families. But the point is that it shouldn't be ruled out. NCDR means ALL available approaches, and they should be properly considered before and during proceedings. You'll find lots more information here - www.theflagroup.co.uk.

If your family lawyer talks about winning, run away as fast as possible. Family law needs compassionate and human professionals, who can support and guide clients through touch situations. Yes, court might sometimes be the right place for some clients, but it is NEVER about winning or losing.

Resolution members have a Code of Practice that we're all proud to follow.

Huge congratulations to the Family Solutions Group and everyone involved in the Putting Children First report.

This thoughtful and forward‑looking work shines a light on how family law professionals can make a real difference for children and families experiencing separation – by reducing conflict, listening properly to children, and working in more collaborative, child‑centred ways. We've known this for a long time, it's why we created Family Solutions. Very pleased that it is now going to be 'mainstream' to work in this way.

The report calls for:
✨ putting children’s experiences at the heart of practice
✨ better training and reflective support for professionals
✨ stronger, joined‑up ways of supporting families
✨ a shift away from adversarial approaches wherever possible

A genuinely important contribution that will shape conversations, practice and policy for years to come.

Mediation is not an ‘easy option’. It can be challenging and so it’s understandable that participants worry about what it will be like.

Find a mediator that makes you feel comfortable - that applies equally to you as solicitors who will be referring out.

✨ Panel Spotlight | Bridging the Gap 2026 – London ✨

This year sees the arrival of a new conference Bridging the Gap 2026. I’m very proud to have been asked to join the panel discussions, alongside the inimitable Jo O'Sullivan and Tracy Ann Moore-Grant

We’ll be talking about The Ethical, Emotional, and Child Benefits of Out-of-Court Resolutions

We’re hoping to explore:
• How out-of-court resolution supports ethical practice
• The emotional benefits for families navigating separation
• Why children fare better when conflict is reduced out of court
• What professionals can do differently to support healthier outcomes for families

Anyone who knows us, will know that we have spent many years advocating for a better way, and our respective practices are leaders in the field.

Please do come and join us at the Conference - our panel is going to be a must-attend for professionals who (like us) believe divorce should not be destructive—and there are approaches available that lead to better lives.
