Answering the phone
Audio Typing
Use of Legal Software (Proclaim).
Legal document preparation.
Liaising with Courts, Barristers, Crown Prosecution Service, Defence Experts etc
Plus general office admin.

Person Specification
Previous Legal Secretary experience is essential 2yrs +
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Good administration skills
English and Maths to GCSE level or equivalent.

Start date: As soon as possible

Full time position Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm. Part time hours may be considered.

COVID-19: Coronavirus Update
Week commencing 9th November 2020

All enquiries and appointments are to take place over the telephone or other remote means until further notice. Please contact us on 01422 380200 or via email at [email protected] or [email protected] with your contact details to request assistance.

As you will all be aware the country has entered into a second lockdown due to COVID-19 and have been advised to limit social contact where applicable and also to self-isolate should you have any symptoms linked with the fast spreading virus including high temperature, cough, breathing difficulties and loss of taste or smell.

As a firm we are still operating our business as usual however our offices to the public are currently closed. We have to take the health and safety of our employees and clients seriously and on that basis all future appointments will be conducted over the phone or other remote means until further notice.

At present the guidance for Court hearings is that the Courts will continue to run as normal as it is deemed essential. Therefore if you have a Court Hearing date, then you must attend or a Warrant will be issued for your arrest. If you have not received a Court Hearing date and your case was adjourned during the first lockdown then please ensure that the Court have your up to date contact details.

We hope to be back to as near normal as soon as humanly possible and ask that you take care and stay safe.

As you will all be aware the country is still in lockdown due to COVID-19 and have been advised to limit social contact where applicable and also to self-isolate should you have any symptoms linked with the fast spreading virus including high temperature, cough, breathing difficulties and loss of taste or smell.

As a firm we are still operating our business as usual however our offices to the public are currently closed. We have to take the health and safety of our employees and clients seriously and on that basis all future appointments will be conducted over the phone or other remote means until further notice.
Should you have an appointment already arranged we will be in touch with you in due course to confirm your contact details. Should you not hear from us prior to your appointment then please contact our office to ensure we have your correct contact details.

At present the guidance for Court hearings is that all but the most serious cases are being adjourned until HM Courts Service receive further advice from the Government. Both Bradford Magistrates Court and Crown Court are currently closed and all work in West Yorkshire is being conducted at the Leeds Magistrates Court and Crown Court. Should you have a Court case coming up in the next couple of weeks it is unlikely that you will be required to attend and the Court will write to you offering you a new hearing date.

Should this change we will make contact with you to confirm the same and keep you updated via social media.

COVID-19 Your rights at the Police Station

In the unfortunate event that you are arrested or have to voluntarily attend the Police Station for interview under caution, you are still entitled to FREE LEGAL ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE.

This is an absolute right. INSIST ON IT.

At present the Courts are only dealing with urgent and custody cases and your will therefore receive notification in the post direct from the Court with a new date for your Court hearing.

Calder Magistrates Court closed in October 2016, consequently all criminal proceedings originating from Calderdale are now dealt with at the Bradford Magistrates Court. A number of Halifax solicitors have ceased trading.
