Slipped or tripped? Here are 5 things to do next.

If a hazard, defect or lack of warning contributed to your fall, preserving evidence early can make a real difference.

1️⃣ Get medical attention and keep a record of your injury.

2️⃣ Report the incident and request a copy of the accident report.

3️⃣ Photograph the hazard and surrounding area before anything changes.

4️⃣ Keep the contact details of anyone who witnessed the incident.

5️⃣ Record expenses, treatment costs and time away from work—and seek advice promptly.

Most personal injury claims in England and Wales must usually be started within three years, although exceptions can apply.

Reported damp or mould to your council or housing association?

Awaab’s Law gives qualifying hazards in social housing set response times in England:

• Emergency hazards must be investigated and made safe within 24 hours.
• Significant damp or mould must be investigated within 10 working days.
• The home must then be made safe within 5 working days after the investigation.

Use your landlord’s official reporting channel. Keep photographs, videos and a record of every report and response.

If the problem remains unresolved, use your landlord’s formal complaints process. After its final response, the Housing Ombudsman may be able to help.

Military hearing loss is not always immediately obvious.

Repeated exposure to loud noise can damage hearing over time. During military service, possible sources can include gunfire, explosions, aircraft and heavy machinery.

Signs worth noticing include:

• Conversations becoming harder to follow• Turning the television up• Ringing or buzzing in the ears• Difficulty hearing during phone calls• Feeling tired from concentrating while listening

If you are concerned about your hearing, speak to your GP or arrange a hearing test. Sudden hearing loss should be treated urgently.

If Armed Forces service may have contributed, keeping a record of when your symptoms began and any relevant noise exposure can be useful. Different compensation routes and time limits may apply.

Save this information or share it with someone who served.
