Susan Barnes - APS Legal & Associates APS Legal & Associates is one of the most recognised and trusted brands in Will Writing.

APS Legal & Associates is one of the most recognised and trusted brands in the Will Writing & Estate Planning profession. As one of the largest and most influential members of the IPW (Institute of Professional Will Writers), and with over 100 qualified Legal consultants and members of staff across the country, our approach in a traditionally fragmented industry has allowed us to build a strong br

and name with rapidly increasing recognition. We cover all areas of the country, including England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. We believe that providing legal services should be at the convenience of the client; not the convenience of solicitors or banks. We don't expect you to visit us - we visit you in the comfort and privacy of your own home at a time convenient to you. And the services we provide are affordable and cost effective solutions to those alternatives offered by solicitors or banks. We provide you with impartial advice and services, delivered in plain English and tailored to your individual needs. We will never pressure-sell and we will ensure that the service we provide fully complies with the law. Above all, we will treat every client with respect and provide personal attention from your first enquiry.

Well that day has finally come when I can say that I am retired. It’s a funny feeling but I am sure that I will quickly get used to it.
I will still be completing cases that are outstanding but I feel that I am no longer tied to the phone or desk.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the clients and referrers that have trusted me and especially those that have felt that I was a safe pair of hands to assist their family members. Thanks also go to Claire Fryer at One to Three Marketing who have dealt with the parts that I don’t like and they are great at.
Wishing everyone a happy Easter.

Dear Client

I hope this letter finds you well. You may remember that we have met in the past when I was able to assist with the preparation of your legal documents, either your Wills and/ or Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs).
I am writing to let you know that I will be retiring later this year and will no longer be offering these services after 31 October 2025. I am, however, very happy to continue supporting both new and existing clients up until this date. If you would like to update your documents or arrange a new appointment, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. If you haven’t already arranged your Lasting Powers of Attorney this would be the ideal time to get these very important documents in place. These are documents that will assist you if you are unable to look after your own affairs.

If you have any friends or family that would appreciate my help, then I am very happy if you refer me to them before the end of October.

After my retirement, if you need further assistance, you can contact APS Legal & Associates Ltd directly using the details below. They will be able to clarify any questions or arrange for another associate to support you with any updates in the future.

Thank you for allowing me to assist you over the years — it has been a genuine pleasure.

Kind regards,

Susan Barnes

You take the time, and budget to have your Last Will and Testament professionally written but then decide to store it in a drawer, or shoe box on top of your wardrobe. You mean to tell your loved ones where this important document is kept but time passes, and you don’t. You pass away and your grieving family cannot find your Will. What happens? You die
Intestate. Your wishes are not granted because there is no record of them. Not having your Will professionally stored is a false economy and a huge strain on those left behind.

The cost for me to arrange secure storage for your will is £40-45/year. That's less than £1 a week – a small price for peace of mind. Please contact me to find out more.

A Mirror Will is a set of two Will documents that are similar in content. Such documents are normally written for ‘couples’.

Mirror Wills replaced ‘Joint Wills’ which were rather inflexible.

It’s not just paperwork—it’s peace of mind.

An up-to-date will is one of the kindest gifts you can leave your loved ones. It spares them difficult decisions and ensures your wishes are respected when you’re not there to explain them.

Take 30 minutes today to check if your will reflects your life as it is now.

📣 Life changes—so should your Will.

Marriage, divorce, new children, or major purchases like a home can all impact how your assets should be distributed. An outdated Will can cause confusion, delays, upset or disputes among loved ones.

✅ Review your will every 3–5 years or after any major life event.
🛡️ Protect your legacy. Make your wishes clear.

It is no good organising your Lasting Powers of Attorney when you’re in desperate need for it! It’s not something that can be rushed and is far better to have in place long before it’s required. Please contact me to find out how I can help.

Many of my clients choose to work with me on their Will and Lasting Powers of Attorney as a package. The process is actually quicker for my clients if they are done together and there is a cost saving too. Please contact me to find out how I can help.
