Filtering can be a contentious subject. The Highway Code makes it clear, filtering – when done properly in the right situation - is perfectly legal and drivers should be aware of bikers and cyclists filtering.

Should the officer have reacted in this way or was he wrong in his actions?

Affordable cover is reducing, and we mustn't let it steer younger motorists away from essential insurance protection.

Stay safe on the road, everyone, and watch out for those rising premiums! 🙏💙

Lawyers on the outside, Bikers on the Inside...

When we’re out on the bike, we don’t like to think about coming off... But what if? Life as a biker is full of what ifs!

We get them running through our head virtually every mile of our journey as we are more vulnerable than other road users. What if they step off the kerb? What if that car pulls out? What if those two cars close my filtering space? For most bikers that is where the what ifs stop... BUT what if you come off?

You’re insured, so that’s ok isn’t it? You’ll be looked after right?? Sadly the answer is only MAYBE! How can that be? Allow us to explain:

If you have a collision and emergency services arrive, their priority is to make sure you are safe and to provide medical assistance. During this time, witnesses can carry on about their day and other evidence can disappear. The support you get from your insurers is remote... They are not at the scene, and any support they can offer at this point is limited. Any support they offer moving forward is also limited and it takes an awful lot of time to heat back from them, particularly if dealing with another party’s insurance company too. When you make calls and chase up progress the response you get or the influence you have on getting them to act quicker is limited. We’re not bashing the insurers here, far from it... They have rules to follow, legislation to comply with and a lot of other claims / claim related tasks to deal with too.
