We are incredibly proud to call Nadine Montgomery our colleague. Long after her inspiring battle changed the law, she continues to advocate fiercely and compassionately for patients and their families. Thank you for your work in making patient voices heard.

Nadine said:

"Before heading to the House of Commons to speak at the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Patient Safety, I stopped briefly at the Supreme Court pausing outside Court 1, where Montgomery v Lanarkshire Health Board is displayed as part of the court's history. A quiet reminder of how patient voice and informed consent became embedded in law.

Later that day, many of the discussions returned to the same core issue: patient voices must be heard, taken seriously, and acted upon to fundamentally improve patient safety.

I was grateful to contribute to a panel where there was clarity and unanimity on that point.

Patient safety does not improve despite families. It improves with them.

When families are excluded, dismissed, or treated as a problem to be managed, the system loses its most valuable source of learning."
