Just had a chat with someone who's stuck trying to sell their home. They're not happy with the progress they're seeing from their current agent and after checking the contract have realised they're tied in for 13 months! 😮🤯

They can't switch agents, they can't sell privately. Even if a buyer walks up to their front door and makes an offer, they will still owe their agent a fee.

This homeowners relocation was put on hold for months waiting for a sale on the open market. Then following the advice of their agent after an offer fell through they put the property into auction (where it didn't belong). They were locked in for three months and unsurprisingly it didn't sell.
