Some remedial work at Eyemouth holiday park this week. Replaced a couple of faulty shower mixers and fixed a sliding door that wouldn't close and lock properly. Also adjusted some wonky cabinet doors that were jamming on each other. Not a bad days work.

Traditional construction requires traditional interventions to maintain and preserve it. This picture shows an example of where modern cement mortar has been used to repoint an old wall which i'm learning will actually trap moisture in and cause damp issues and damage. The skills I'm developing will hopefully mean i can redo this pointing using the correct materials in the near future and help to preserve this strucure for hundreds of years to come.

These are skills i hope to be able to put to good use in restoring and maintaining old and historical buildings using the correct methods and materials like those used in their original construction.

Well the last job of 2025 was a personal one. The cars MOT is due in January and the control arm bushings are worn, so it was a cold night under the car to get this replaced. But should be good now, and fingers crossed for the MOT when it comes 😅

NOTE: I'm not offering mobile mechanics services. I hate doing these jobs on my own car, and it usually ends up with sore fingers and a lot of swearing! 🤣
