I never quite understand why the rich and famous don't get their Wills and LPAs done! What a mess it leaves behind. I wonder if Liam would have wanted Cheryl as the Trustee??

The majority of clients I see own their own house (with or without a mortgage.). It is fair to say most people work hard for years to pay off the mortgage and wish their beneficiaries (usually their children) to get all or most of the value of the house.
They may even write wills saying this is their wish. However, sometimes circumstances in life completely change the dynamic and most people don't see it coming...
Once a spouse dies there are two main danger points. One is remarriage of the survivor-the new spouse could inherit all or the lion's share-not the children!
or if the surviving spouse needs care later on, the house could be sold to pay for care home fees. Care fees average £45,000 per year.
The good news is there is something you do legally to protect your house value. If you have no wills or standard "mirror wills" I suggest you have a free half hour will review to check everything is protected.

Western Wills is still very much open for business praise God. I am going back out to see clients when they are happy to do so. Otherwise can use all forms of video calling.
Have had some very interesting and complex cases recently.
Areas I can help......If there has been a divorce and you are both still on the house ownership but you don't want him/her to get your share.......If you have a business....Worried about your house being taken to pay for care home fees.... You need advice about excluding a beneficiary from your will.... a loved one has just died and you are an executor and need advice. You need advice about what happen to your money if you lost capacity...over 60 and struggling for cash but own a house? Can provide specialist equity release advice.
