Before and after of a new stair balustrade installed.

The old solid panel was removed and replaced with new timber spindles, giving the landing and staircase a much more open, lighter feel.

It’s made a big difference to the space — cleaner, brighter and far less boxed in.

Now ready for decorating and finishing.

Another understairs storage cupboard completed.

This was a great way to make proper use of what was previously awkward wasted space under the stairs. We built the framework, fitted the doors and panels, and created a clean, practical storage area that blends nicely into the hallway.

A much tidier finish, plenty of hidden storage, and no more dead space.

Perfect for shoes, coats, cleaning bits, tools, bags, or anything else that normally ends up cluttering the hallway.

Another practical repair job completed — this time rectifying a garage floor where the original concrete slab had been laid without enough fall, causing water to sit and collect in the centre.

To solve the issue, we raised the base with fresh concrete, added steel rebar for strength, and created a better fall to help water run away properly. We also fitted drive ramps at the entrance to make access smoother and safer.

Not always the prettiest jobs while they’re in progress, but these are the ones that make a big difference long-term.

Another part of this outbuilding project completed ✅

After building the outbuilding itself, I was asked to install these kitchen/storage units to make the space more practical and usable.

A simple, clean setup with wall units, base units, and worktop installed — ideal for extra storage, entertaining, hobbies, or making better use of an outdoor room.

It’s always satisfying when a space starts coming together and becomes properly functional.

Fire door upgrade completed 🔥🚪

Not every job is about making something look pretty — sometimes it’s about making sure it’s safe, correct, and fit for purpose.

We recently fitted 3 fire doors to help bring the property up to the required fire safety standard.

The work included:

✅ Fire-rated hinges
✅ Intumescent hinge pads
✅ Intumescent fire & smoke seal strips
✅ Fire-rated door closers
✅ Correct fire door signage
✅ Careful fitting and adjustment to make sure the doors close properly

With fire doors, the small details matter. The door, frame, hinges, seals, gaps and closers all need to work together for the door to do its job properly.

A practical but important upgrade, and another job completed properly.

Oak porch complete ✅

Traditional entrance canopy with a solid oak frame and clay tile roof. Built to suit the character of the property, keep the doorway dry, and add a proper bit of presence to the front of the house.

Another project finished ✅
A timber-framed carport built from scratch — solid structure, clean lines, and built to keep the weather off while looking the part.

This one was designed to tie in with the existing buildings and give the customer a practical, tidy space for parking (and a bit of extra covered storage too).

Oak sleeper retaining wall + composite decking path ✅

This garden needed two things: proper support and a clean, low-maintenance finish. We installed a solid oak sleeper retaining wall, secured with steel H/I beams for strength and longevity, then finished it off with a composite decking walkway for a smart, hard-wearing surface that won’t need constant upkeep.

Big difference in both looks and practicality — built to last, not just to photograph.
