Enjoying a day at Logie House where wedding couples who have a booking here, or at one of a number of other local venues, are enjoying their ‘menu showcase’ day from Hudson Catering. There are also a number of suppliers here for them to chat to.
The food looks absolutely fabulous, and couples tell me it tastes fabulous too!

Happy Burns Night everyone!

As we begin our 2025 wedding season it’s great to look back over some my ceremonies from last year!

A year ago today, I married David and Collette, a wonderfully unique couple, in their beautiful home near Aberdeen. They shared their morning ceremony, with a few close family and friends, followed by their wedding breakfast (literally a big fry up!), before heading off for a short holiday. If you want a ‘no fuss’ wedding, that’s certainly the way to do it!

Their wedding was a long time in the making – 36 years in fact! They jokingly told me that both being academic in nature, they like to take their time to consider their options, before making life long decisions!

As book lovers, they incorporated some of the lines from David’s favourite poem ‘The Courtship of the Yonghy Bonghy Bo’, by Edward Lear, and Collette’s favourite love story ‘The Happy Prince’, by Oscar Wild, into their wedding vows – and it was a beautiful mix of humour and an innocent love and sincerity. Not a dry eye in the house!

And being the 25 January, there was also a nod to the Bard. A great look Collette!

A very happy anniversary to David and Collette!

Castles and Cloaks are the trademarks of the BBC TV show ‘The Traitors’, and if you have been watching, and hoping one day to have your wedding in a dream castle, then you couldn’t help but be impressed by Ardross Castle, and the scenery of the Highlands of Scotland, where the TV show is filmed.

The Highlands must be one of the most picturesque places in the world to get married, with castles, superb venues, and stunning locations galore, and being a registered celebrant with the Humanist Society Scotland, I’m able to conduct legal weddings in all of these fabulous places!

That’s the castles, now what about the cloaks? It isn’t obligatory of course to wear a cloak whilst conducting a wedding ceremony in a castle, but it is fun, as I found out a couple of years ago. I wore the cloak whilst conducting a medieval themed wedding for USA couple Amanda and Josh at Forter Castle, near Blairgowrie, and a great day was had by all!

Good luck to all of tonight’s finalists, and thanks BBC for showing off the Highlands in all its glory!
