Solicitors For Older People Scotland

Solicitors For Older People Scotland We are a group of Scottish Law firms dedicated to providing legal services to older and vulnerable people in a caring and sensitive way.

We are an affinity group of Scottish law firms working in partnership with many charities and third sector organisations and dealing with older people in a caring and sensitive way. Sometimes older people find it stressful to prepare properly for their future and the future of their families. We aim to remove the stress of seeing a lawyer. All of our members have signed up to our Code of Practice

which we hope will make older people more comfortable in dealing with lawyers. Our members are diligent, we work hard for clients, we will do work on legal aid where possible, and where legal aid is not available our fees are competitive and affordable. We do find many older clients “put off” doing things they know they really should do. Don’t fall into that trap, it makes things worse in the long run. All our members are regulated by the Law Society of Scotland

Absolutely fantastic to be supported by the local Falkirk Council Trading Standards on PoA day next week.

We are delighted to be joined on PoA Day by Bryan Mackie from Falkirk Council Trading Standards. Bryan will be joining us from 12.30pm on 22nd April in our Later Life Information Centre at 25 Upper Newmarket Street, Falkirk and will be on hand to discuss fraud and scam prevention including staying safe online and doorstep scams.

Bryan commented “PoA is a very useful document to have in place as it can help prevent frauds and scams in older people. With Power of Attorney in place, your attorney can legally manage finances and intervene in fraudulent activity. It provides authority to monitor accounts, freeze assets, and manage affairs if an individual faces cognitive decline or loses capacity to manage money. We are delighted to be supporting the first ever national Power of Attorney Day and hope that people take the opportunity of coming along to the Later Life Information Centre for free information and advice”.
