Our members have attended around 40 events, talks, sessions and educational activities so far this year, demonstrating a strong commitment to free learning, networking and raising awareness.

We run a free legal advice clinic for carers every month with Solicitors For Older People Scotland. The clinic is open to all carers, regardless of age, including parent carers. The clinic offers carers 30- minute telephone appointments for FREE legal advice. The next clinic is next Thursday 30th July, with appointments available. Over the years, we have worked with a range of charities to help people who may be unable to afford a Power of Attorney.

Through the Scottish Legal Aid Board's Advice and Assistance Scheme, eligible individuals can receive financial support towards the cost of preparing important legal documents such as Power of Attorney.

Many people aged 60 and over may qualify for assistance with the cost of a Power of Attorney. If eligible, they may also be able to have their Will and Advance Directive prepared under the same scheme.

The eligibility criteria are often more generous than people expect and many are surprised to discover that they qualify for support.

While fewer law firms now offer this service, our member firms remain committed to utilising the Advice & Assistance Scheme and will continue to assess everyone aged 60 and over for eligibility.

Change of day this month for our information stall at NHS Forth Valley Royal Hospital. We will be in our usual spot in the main atrium tomorrow (Tuesday) 23rd instead of Thursday.
