✨ LPAs aren’t just for later life. They’re a simple way to make sure someone you trust can step in if you’re ever unable to make decisions yourself — whether due to illness, an accident, or even temporary situations.

Why it matters:

🔹 Life is unpredictable — age doesn’t guarantee certainty.
🔹 Without an LPA, loved ones face delays and legal hurdles just to help you.
🔹 You stay in control by choosing who acts on your behalf.
🔹 Both health and financial decisions can be protected.

Putting an LPA in place is straightforward, affordable, and one of the best forward-planning steps you can take.

💡 What Is a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) — and Why Are They Important?

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document that allows you to appoint one or more people you trust — known as your attorneys — to make decisions on your behalf if you ever become unable to do so yourself.

There are two types of LPA:

1️⃣ Property and Financial Affairs – covers things like managing your bank accounts, paying bills, or selling your home.

2️⃣ Health and Welfare – covers decisions about your medical treatment, daily care, and where you live.

✅ Benefits of Having an LPA in Place:
* Peace of mind: You decide who will act for you, rather than leaving it up to the courts.
* Avoids delays and stress: Without an LPA, your loved ones would need to apply to the Court of Protection to manage your affairs – a time-consuming and costly process.
* Flexibility: You can choose when your LPA takes effect and set out clear instructions or preferences.
* Protects your wishes: Ensures your values and choices are respected if you lose capacity due to illness, accident, or age.

🕊️ It’s never too early to plan ahead. Setting up an LPA while you’re fit and well can make life much easier for you and your family later on.

💍 Tying the Knot?

Marriage is such an exciting milestone — and while your will probably isn’t at the top of your wedding planning checklist, it’s something you shouldn’t overlook.

Did you know that getting married will automatically revoke any existing will (unless it was made with a “contemplation of marriage” clause)?

A little planning now can make sure your wishes are still protected after the big day!
