The move to mandatory payrolling of benefits in kind from April 2027 is a significant operational shift for employers, payroll teams and software providers.

From that date, Income Tax and Class 1A NICs on company cars, fuel, vans and private medical benefits will need to be reported and collected in real time through payroll, rather than via the traditional year-end P11D process.

Most remaining benefits follow in 2028, with loans and accommodation staying outside the mandatory regime for now.
While the policy aim is greater accuracy and transparency, the practical challenges for industry are real:

✅ Redesigning data flows between benefits providers, HR and payroll so values are available in time for each pay run
✅ Managing estimation, mid-year changes and corrections inside live payroll
✅ Preparing employees for the move from arrears/coding to in-year deduction (and the temporary overlap many will see)
✅ Handling the one-off Class 1A cash-flow timing in 2027
✅ Running dual processes for a period where some benefits are payrolled and others remain on P11D

I’m currently feeding into this work through the CBI’s Employment Taxes Working Group, reviewing the evolving guidance and helping surface the operational and systems issues that employers and payroll software providers will face.

The more practical the final design and communications, the smoother the transition for everyone.

If you’re working through readiness planning or software changes for 2027, happy to compare notes and provide my guidance templates and letters that can be used that I created for my platform back in June but updated following further Hmrc changes but as an investment to the payroll industry I’m happy to give for free! 🆓 well perhaps in return for a bit of feedback on durasuite!

As clients are the best teachers for me right now - I’ll learn from you what works and solves your pain!

Flowers, phenomenal women… and a jacket purchase! 💐✨

A wonderful day with the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs at London’s beautiful Lansdowne Club. Familiar faces, brilliant new connections and honest conversations about the journeys behind our businesses. 💛

Thank you, Louise Oliver, for celebrating my Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur of the Year win, and Sarah Maylin Flowers for the gorgeous bouquet! It’ll take pride of place in our newly transformed dining room—finally ready this weekend! 🏡💐

Huge congratulations to Luisa Bruna Caprotti on becoming FCEM’s Global General Secretary, following nine years as Deputy World Secretary. An incredible achievement! 🌍👏

And a shout-out to Tytania and her seed granolas and crunchies:

Every time I’m in this room, I feel a little less like an imposter and a little more like I belong. Women celebrating each other, sharing the wins AND the messy middle—that’s powerful. 🥂

And Jade… the jacket was bought. November’s jacket queens are happening! 👑🧥

Flowers, phenomenal women… and a jacket purchase. What a day! 💐✨

Today at the beautiful Lansdowne Club, just up from Green Park in London, was another reminder of why I love being part of the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs

A heartfelt thank you to Louise Oliver for so thoughtfully celebrating my Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur of the Year win. Being recognised by women you admire makes a special achievement feel even more special. 💛

And a proper floral round of applause for Sarah Maylin Flowers, the floristry business behind my beautiful bouquet! Sarah, thank you for bringing such colour and joy to the occasion. The flowers will take pride of place on our dining table as, after all the building works, our transformed dining room should finally be up and running this weekend. What a lovely way to mark a fresh chapter at home, too! 💐🏡

Huge congratulations to Luisa Bruna Caprotti, appointed Global General Secretary of Femmes Chefs d’Entreprises Mondiales (FCEM) at its 73rd World Congress in Prague! 🌍👏

After nine years as Deputy World Secretary, Luisa now begins a five-year term alongside newly elected World President Patricia Isabel Garcia. She also represented the UK at the congress as a BAWE board member. Such a wonderful achievement and so much to celebrate!

A lovely shout-out, too, to Tytania, whose seed granolas and crunchies feature on Wylde Market. Another woman’s business to discover, support and celebrate! 💚

That’s one of the joys of these gatherings: discovering the creativity, expertise and determination behind each other’s businesses.

Thank you, Luisa, and to all the phenomenal women who made today so special. Familiar faces, new connections and conversations that were intelligent, funny, honest and wonderfully real.

There is something powerful about women celebrating each other. Sharing the achievements, absolutely, but also the messy middle, the doubts and everything it takes to keep moving forward.

I was so excited to be in that room today. And every time I go, I feel a little less like an imposter and a little more like I belong.

That’s what a community like this can do. 🥂

And Jade… the jacket was bought. November’s jacket queens are officially happening. 👑🧥

🔎 Same payroll error. Different month?

Correcting the payslip resolves the immediate issue. Preventing it from happening again means understanding what allowed it through.

Common payroll mistakes often start with:

❌ Outdated employee details
❌ Late or missing changes
❌ Unclear approvals and hand-offs
❌ Inconsistent checks on pay, deductions and payments

“Be more careful” isn’t a control. Teams need clear ownership, reliable information and a repeatable process.

✅ Set clear cut-offs for employee changes.
✅ Record who approves each change.
✅ Reconcile inputs, outputs and payments.
✅ Document exceptions and review recurring errors.
✅ Correct the underlying issue at source.

Behind every payslip is someone relying on their pay. Stronger processes help protect that trust.

DuraSuite helps payroll and HR teams identify operational gaps, clarify responsibilities and turn findings into tracked improvements.

🔎 Fix the pay. Find the cause.

Correcting a payslip puts the immediate issue right. But what stops the same error happening again?

Missing overtime could start with incomplete data, a delayed approval or a failed system transfer. Each needs a different solution.

✅ Trace the evidence.
✅ Check the hand-offs.
✅ Test possible causes.
✅ Give improvement actions an owner.
✅ Review whether the changes worked.

Blame can shut down the conversation. Evidence helps improve the process.

DuraSuite connects operational diagnostics, governance and tracked actions to help teams turn recurring errors into lasting improvements. 🐰

Payroll software can make a broken process run faster. But faster doesn’t mean more accurate. 👀

An outdated salary, incomplete hours or a missed pay change can produce a mathematically correct calculation—and still pay someone the wrong amount.

Technology can help:
✅ Reduce duplicate data entry.
✅ Flag missing or unusual information.
✅ Route changes for approval.
✅ Make changes easier to trace.

But it cannot decide who owns the data, resolve conflicting instructions or replace professional judgement.

An alert needs someone to investigate it. An integration needs reliable source data. An approval needs a reviewer who understands what they’re approving.

That’s why improving payroll accuracy starts before the pay run.

Map the hand-offs. Name the owners. Check the inputs. Reconcile the outputs. Then use recurring errors to identify what needs to change.

DuraSuite supports that work through diagnostics, governance resources, process design and project management—helping teams turn repeated corrections into lasting improvements.

📖 Our latest article, “Improving Payroll Accuracy Software: What Technology Can, and Cannot, Fix”, explores where technology adds value and where human oversight remains essential.

Where do most of your payroll corrections begin: source data, hand-offs, approvals or calculations?

16/10/2026

📣 A payroll legislative alert lands in your inbox. What happens next?

It’s been received. Perhaps shared. Maybe filed under “review later”.

But who assesses whether it applies? Who owns the response? And where is the decision recorded?

That’s where a clear process makes all the difference.

Our latest DuraSuite guide, How to Use a Payroll Legislative Updates Platform in 2026, explores five practical steps:

🔎 Capture the update and its original source.
✅ Verify the information.
🧩 Assess the impact on your organisation.
👤 Assign ownership and a review point.
📝 Record decisions, actions and progress.

Keep what the source says distinct from your team’s interpretation—and connect both to the work that follows.

DuraSuite brings research, compliance, diagnostics and project follow-up together, helping teams turn relevant updates into assigned, reviewable actions. Professional judgement stays with your people.

Because “I forwarded the email” only gets payroll so far. 😉
