Behind every probate file we deal with, is a family navigating a loss.
Behind every estate is a family adjusting to a new chapter they didn't choose.
Dealing with probate is often described as a legal process..in reality, it's a human one. Our role isn't just to administer an estate. It's to create calm in a moment that can feel anything but.
There are many things that are new to people who are dealing with the probate process from the loss of a loved one. But we see them time and time again and our experience and knowledge is what helps to guide our clients through them.
1️⃣ It’s not just paperwork, it’s grief with admin attached.
Forms are hard enough on a normal day. Completing them while navigating loss is something else entirely.
2️⃣ The executor carries invisible pressure.
They are grieving too, yet they’re expected to manage assets, liaise with banks, settle debts and keep the peace. It’s a heavy responsibility.
3️⃣ Even ‘simple’ estates can reveal surprises.
Unopened post. Old bank accounts. Forgotten investments. Digital subscriptions still running. Complexity is more common than people think.
4️⃣ Family dynamics don’t pause for probate.
Different people grieve differently. Some want everything resolved quickly. Others can’t bear to clear a room. A structured, neutral process protects relationships as much as finances.
5️⃣ It takes longer than most expect.
Institutions have their own timescales. HMRC has its own process. Property sales add further layers. Clear communication and realistic expectations make all the difference.
When families first contact me, they usually say the same thing;
"We thought it would be straightforward."
What happens next is why 99% of our business is through referrals and word of mouth.
If you’re navigating probate, or supporting someone who is, you don’t have to carry it alone.
