Civil Nuclear Police Federation works with the National Police Healthcare Scheme to offer affordable healthcare to officers, staff, and their families.

With long NHS waiting lists, we know colleagues can face treatment delays that can impact their work and personal lives. This not-for-profit scheme covers the cost of consultant fees, diagnostic procedures/tests, surgical procedures and all relevant treatments and follow-ups, as well as treatments such as physiotherapy and chiropractic. Plus, pre-existing conditions are covered after two years.

Police officers (of all ranks), police staff, and their spouses/partners and children can join the scheme, and initial membership periods are offered free of charge.

We all know that policing isn’t a job you leave at the door. The demands of the role can affect us in ways that go far beyond the physical. That's why it's more important than ever that officers and staff have access to the right support, at the right time.

As part of a holistic approach to welfare, many forces have chaplains working alongside other support services. CNC’s Chaplain is Canon Ian Grainger. We recently met with him to find out more about him and his work.

Several of our reps have just completed advanced conduct training. The aim is to equip our team to support members through more complex cases.

As part of the training, reps took part in 'as live' scenarios designed to test their knowledge, skills and approach, all while being observed by the rest of the group. It's a great way to share learning and build confidence.

The latest Police Family Finance Index Report highlights that 68% of police officers have financial concerns, and 56% feel their financial situation has become worse over the last year.
