Think your employment risk ends after 3 months? Think again.

From 1 October 2026, most Employment Tribunal claim time limits increase from 3 months to 6 months. That means former employees will have twice as long to bring claims such as unfair dismissal, discrimination and whistleblowing.

For employers, this means dismissals, grievances and disciplinary decisions will need to stand up to scrutiny for much longer.

For employers, review your record-keeping. Make sure investigations, meeting notes and dismissal decisions are properly documented and retained.

Yesterday, one of our Directors, Patrick, attended a talk at Wrexham University exploring Youth Crime, Risk and Social Exclusion.

The event brought together students, professionals working within the criminal justice system and student mentors, including Patrick, to discuss the challenges and wider issues surrounding youth crime and social exclusion.

EMPLOYMENT LAW UPDATE

Throughout this week, our Employment team will be talking about the upcoming changes to Employment Law, with some changes coming in as soon as this month. Today we've started with the changes surrounding accessibility to Trade Unions within the workplace.

The Government has delayed the introduction of the new duty requiring employers to inform workers of their right to join a trade union.

Originally due to come into effect on 30 October 2026, the duty is now expected to come into effect in January 2027.

The Government has also published its response to the consultation, confirming further details around what employers will need to provide and how the information should be communicated to new and existing workers.

This afternoon, we welcomed Gordon from Coleg Cambria to our Wrexham office for a Welsh language class!
Prynhawn heddiw mi groesawom Gordon o Goleg Cambria i’n swyddfa yn Wrecsam am ddosbarth Cymraeg!

Our team had the chance to learn some new Welsh words and phrases, brush up on basics and have a bit of fun along the way.
