You didn't lose yourself all at once. It happened one small yes at a time.

Yes to the holiday his family always chose. Yes to the job move that worked for him. Yes to letting that friendship quietly fade because it was easier. Yes to swallowing the comment at dinner instead of naming it.

None of these felt like much on their own. That's the thing about small yeses. They don't announce themselves. They just accumulate, year after year, until one morning you catch your reflection and realise you've been carrying a bundle so heavy you've forgotten what it feels like to stand upright.

In my experience, this is what most women in long marriages are actually grieving when they sit across from me. Not the marriage itself. The version of themselves they slowly handed away to keep the peace.

This is why the work of untying the knot starts well before the paperwork. My A-F Transition guide opens with Awareness, then moves toward Discovering the Authentic You, because reclaiming your identity is the real journey here. The legal process is the scaffolding. The rebuilding of you is the actual work. 🌿

If you recognise yourself in this, here's a gentle place to start. Notice one small yes you're about to give this week. Pause before you give it. Ask yourself what you would say if you were answering only for you.

You don't have to set the whole bundle down today. You just have to stop adding to it.

Everyone has an opinion about your timeline. Your sister wants you to "just decide already." Your best friend made up her mind months ago and is waiting for you to catch up. Your solicitor has a process. Your own inner critic whispers that taking time means you're weak, indecisive, stuck.

Here is what I have seen, again and again, with women navigating midlife divorce: the pressure to decide quickly comes from everyone except the person who actually has to live with the decision.

The stay-or-leave question is not a binary, and it is not a deadline. It is one of the most consequential decisions of your life, and it deserves the time it truly needs, not the time other people are comfortable with.

You are allowed to say:

β†’ I am not ready to answer that yet.
β†’ I need more time before I decide.
β†’ This is my timeline, not anyone else's.
β†’ I hear your concern, and I am still not ready.
β†’ I will not be rushed into the most important decision of my life.

Slowness is not weakness. The women who give themselves permission to move at a grounded pace are the ones who arrive at a decision they can stand behind, whichever way it goes. External urgency without internal clarity only leads to rework, regret, and a decision that never quite feels like yours.

You are not behind. You are not failing. You are doing the quiet, careful work of figuring out what you actually want.

That deserves time. 🌿

You've landed here as a result of my passion and purpose to make your next steps regarding your relationship easier.

1.Either to reignite your relationship
2.Stay in your relationship
3.Or walk away with dignity and respect.

DM me which number from the list above and answer this question: what's stopping you and keeping you stuck?

I've got you.

The paperwork isn't the starting line.

Most women who reach out to me arrive certain they're ready to file. They want a solicitor's name, a form to sign, a date in the diary. Something to make the chaos feel like progress. I understand that urgency completely. When everything inside you feels unsteady, action feels like the antidote.

But in my experience, the legal step is almost never the right first step. Rushing it is one of the most expensive mistakes a woman can make. Not just financially. Emotionally too.

Before any document is signed, there's quiet groundwork that determines everything that follows:

β†’ What do you actually want the outcome to look like, a year from now?
β†’ What does your full financial picture really show, not just what you assume it shows?
β†’ What needs to be considered around co-parenting, living arrangements, and the life you're building next?

When you work through that layer first, something shifts. The legal process stops feeling like a runaway train. You move through it with clarity instead of reactive panic. You stop agreeing to terms you'll later regret. It's why my work begins with a Decision Package or a Divorce Transition session, long before McKenzie Friend support or court paperwork enters the picture. The legal machinery does its job far better when you arrive prepared, grounded, and clear.

If you're feeling the pressure to "just get on with it", from family, from your situation, from yourself, please hear this: slowing down by a few weeks at the beginning often saves you months of rework at the end.

You deserve to walk into the legal process knowing what you want. Not just wanting it to be over. πŸƒ
