Just over 20 years ago I graduated with my first degree in Medical Biochemisty. I then converted to the legal profession and many people ask if I feel those years of study were wasted. This is why I particularly enjoy working with pharmaceutical clients…. Looking perhaps a little closer at the documents than other notaries might, just to see what I can understand and what it is this particular product does.

Recently I notarised 36 documents which will be sent to 12 different LATAM countries for a product used to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Whilst sadly there is no cure for DMD, drugs like this can extend and improve the quality of life of those that are affected.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week (Mon, 12 May 2025 – Sun, 18 May 2025) and this year's topic and focus is COMMUNITY and the benefits this and Social Interaction can have on our wellbeing.

Today I gave a presentation to the Kent and East Sussex Notarial Group on this topic, focussing on the importance of community, social interaction and how we can do more to build our cognitive reserves. We all Celebrated our Notarial Community that we have so successfully built and now benefit from.

Today might be more pleasure than business - but in the last few hours many notary topics have gone through my mind:

❓How many people have been pulled aside with a passport issue (it expires soon or they haven’t signed their passport)

🤓 Making sure everyone’s passport in our group is stamped correctly going in and out of each country ( I’m often seeing clients not getting a stamp when exiting a county and this can cause delays next time you go somewhere)

❓How many passengers are travelling with a child that is not theirs, or that has a different surname - will they be asked to provide a consent to travel ?

🐶 So many gorgeous pooches going on holiday. I hope all their papers are in order so their onward journey goes smoothly.
