π‘ The quiet comeback of the bungalowβ¦
You might not have noticed it happening, but something really interesting has been going on in the property market β and it involves those much-underestimated single-storey homes we call bungalows.
For years they were dismissed as "somewhere your granny lives." Not anymore.
So who's buying them? Downsizers in their 60s and 70s, yes β but increasingly couples in their 50s whose children have flown the nest, families thinking about long-term practicality, and even buy-to-let landlords spotting a smart investment. The bungalow has quietly become one of the most versatile properties in the market.
It's not hard to understand why. No stairs. Bigger gardens. More privacy. Natural light. Space that actually works for how people live. In a world of tall, narrow new builds crammed close together, a well-proportioned bungalow feels like a breath of fresh air. πΏ
There's also a scarcity factor that's driving values. Developers simply don't build them β they take up too much land. So the ones that exist are only becoming more sought after, and buyers are increasingly willing to pay a premium to get their hands on one. π°
A word of caution though β scarcity doesn't mean buyers will pay anything. Realistic pricing and good presentation still matter enormously, wherever you are. βοΈ
If you own a bungalow across any of our areas and you've been wondering what it might be worth right now, we'd love to have that conversation. And if you're looking for one, you know exactly who to call. π
