Rent increases arenโt something landlords should simply guess at.
Since the Rentersโ Rights Act reforms came into force, assured periodic tenancies generally require landlords to follow the Section 13 process when increasing rent, including serving the correct notice and using the prescribed form.
Tenants can also challenge an increase if they believe it exceeds the open-market rent.
So before choosing a new figure, make sure you understand both:
What your property is worth AND the correct process for increasing the rent.
