Quote “ I don’t need probate. I have a Will” .. unfortunately that’s a very common misconception and please watch this video to try and understand more ! Probate can be a very costly and time-consuming process which adds to an already difficult time for your family post Death. Email : office@Caroline sandiford.co.uk for more information

Prioritising … don’t leave this one out !

A quick update for you all!

Historically, I’ve often stepped in to help clients with personal applications for probate. While it was never an official service due to how time-consuming the registry process and paperwork can be, I know it's a support many of you still need during difficult times.

With ongoing government policy updates and potential tax changes on the horizon, my priority must stay firmly on strategic planning and protection structures to safeguard what you’ve worked so hard for.

To make sure you still get the probate support you need without taking time away from that critical planning, I am officially partnering with Countrywide Tax and Trust Corporation to handle probate applications:

Your point of contact stays the same:

You still come directly to me, and I feed your details securely through the system.

Hands-off paperwork:

Countrywide takes care of all drafting, document completion, and registry correspondence behind the scenes.

Clear visibility: Applications are tracked through the Probate Registry’s online portal, meaning regular updates at every key milestone.

A smoother, faster process for you, and more focused planning time for me.

As always, I'm here to find the best solutions for you and your family. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to discuss your estate planning!

Happy Monday everyone! 👋 Hope you’ve all had a fantastic weekend.

I talk a lot about complex estate planning—from tax mitigation and Trusts to protecting your bloodline inheritance. While those advanced tools are vital, your Will is the absolute foundation of everything. 🏛️

Think of estate planning like a pyramid.

You can’t build the upper levels until you have a solid, unbreakable base at the bottom. And that foundation starts with a correctly drafted Will and Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs).

Estate planning isn’t just for the super-wealthy—it’s for EVERYONE over 18 who:

1. Owns any assets (like a home, savings, or personal belongings)
2. Has minor children
3. Wants control over their future

If you don't make a Will to specify who raises your children as legal Guardians or where your hard-earned assets go, the law and the courts will decide for you. That could mean your assets passing to estranged family members or your family facing lengthy court delays.

Don't let the courts make decisions for your family. Start building your foundation today!

Tuesday Morning Summary: Let’s Talk Trusts, Probate, and the October Budget! ☕️

I spent this bank holiday weekend celebrating my goddaughter's beautiful wedding, and as usual, catching up with friends and family brought up a lot of the same important questions.

If you've been wondering about how to protect your assets, here is my weekly summary of what people are asking me about right now:

Avoiding Probate: Had a horrendous experience with probate in the past? A Lifetime Trust can help you avoid it for your main residence (if it’s freehold).

Protecting Your Family: If you have concerns about your children’s futures or their relationships, a Lifetime Trust or a Will Trust can offer peace of mind. There is no "one size fits all" approach!

Inheritance Tax (IHT): With the October budget looming, starting the 7-year clock on a Family Gift Trust is crucial. This is a great way to mitigate tax using cash, investments, or second properties—just remember, you can no longer benefit from those assets once they are in the trust.

The Bottom Line: Estate planning is highly personal, but the two things everyone needs right now are an up-to-date Will and Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA).

If any of these topics are important to you, please get in touch and let's have a chat! 📥
