Many people have heard some version of "leave them £1 and they can't contest the Will."😬

While choosing to leave someone a £1 shows that you considered that person and intentionally chose to not leave them a meaningful inheritance, it does not stop their ability to challenge the Will!✋

In fact, it may make matters worse because they may feel provocative, with that person instead feeling insulted and subsequently become more determined to challenge the Will.😬

We suggest that a well-worded statement is included alongside your Will to explain your position and the reason for the exclusion. Although this does not prevent a claim, it provides a written explanation that can be used as evidence by your Executors.🙌
