Today a client made me cry.

They sent me some flowers and a card that read

“Dear Rachel
Happy 50th birthday. Just think of it as turning 18 with 32 years of experience. I hope this milestone reminds you how much you are appreciated and how many lives you have touched wishing you a wonderful year ahead with joy and laughter”

Such a heartfelt message even when that person themselves is going through hell.

These are the days are I am so grateful to be able to help people and have a positive impact.

International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day always makes me stop and reflect.

I didn’t grow up with a clear path mapped out. I left home at 17. I studied part-time while working. I built my career step by step, often doubting myself but always determined.

There have been moments when giving up would have been easier.
But I didn’t.

Today, I run my own firm, RJS Family Law, supporting people — many of them women — at some of the most difficult points in their lives. I see strength every single day. I see women rebuilding after betrayal, finding their voice after silence, protecting their children with everything they have.

And I’m reminded that resilience doesn’t always look loud or dramatic. Sometimes it's just getting out of bed each day.

Recently, I had the privilege of speaking on a podcast about women in business and leadership. Sharing my story felt vulnerable but also important. Because the truth is, none of us succeed alone. We are shaped by the women who encouraged us, challenged us, believed in us, and stood beside us. (my picture is some of those women who stand beside me everyday)

International Women’s Day isn’t just about celebrating success.
It’s about recognising courage.

It’s about backing yourself — even when the path feels uncertain.
It’s about lifting other women as you climb.

If my 17-year-old self could see where we are now, she’d probably be surprised. But she’d also know one thing for certain:

We didn’t quit.

To every woman building something, surviving something, or starting again — I see you. Keep going.

Here’s to strong women. May we be them. May we support them. May we raise them.

Glad to see the police took this seriously. It’s never ok or justified to bombard someone with messages and place listening devices in their house no matter how upset you are.

I’m always so grateful when clients go out of their way to say thank you. This was a matter made so difficult by the ex wife even after they had been divorced for many years. But we got there in the end.
