A lot of building problems do not start with one big dramatic failure.

They usually start with something small that gets left a bit too long. A blocked outlet, a leaking gutter joint, water not draining properly, or a minor external fault that does not look urgent at first.

Then a bit later it turns into a much bigger headache.

That is a big part of why practical external maintenance still matters. Staying on top of the smaller things early on often saves a lot of time, hassle and repeat problems later.

A recent mix of inspections, surveys, and maintenance work across managed buildings.

We’ve been checking roof areas, rainwater systems, and external condition, then carrying out the follow-on work where needed, including gutter and roof repairs, bird deterrents, external cleaning, and graffiti removal.

Good to see the scaffolding coming down at St Peter’s Church after around 11 years, and to be involved as access changes and the site moves forward.

🛠️ Just completed a detailed inspection at St Matthias Church on Ditchling Road, Brighton – a beautiful example of early 20th-century Gothic Revival architecture. Built in stages from 1907 and consecrated in 1912, it remains a key part of the community and local streetscape.

This latest inspection covered high-level rainwater goods, roofing, copper flashings, mortar joints, and those distinctive turreted features – with full photographic documentation and severity ratings included in the final report.

If you're responsible for an older or listed building, regular inspections like this are vital to prevent costly repairs later. Get in touch if you'd like to arrange one.

I've just wrapped up an incredible 8-week journey with the Plus X Stage One Pre-Accelerator Programme, where I had the chance to work on a tech idea for Highbridge 360—something I’ll be launching in 2025!

Through workshops, expert mentorship, and inspiring talks with access to the amazing Plus X facilities, I gained deep insights into lean methodology, developed actionable strategies, and put ideas to the test. The highlight was meeting an inspiring group of inventors and entrepreneurs.
