Many survivors of child sexual abuse do not feel able to come forward until years, or even decades, after the abuse took place.

Changes to the Crime and Policing Bill will remove the current three-year time limit for bringing civil claims, helping to improve access to justice for survivors of historic abuse.

Once the amendments come into law later this month, courts will now focus on whether a fair trial can still take place, rather than how much time has passed.

Our specialist team remains committed to supporting survivors with sensitivity, confidentiality and understanding.

Wow, what a day that was!

Tuesday, we welcomed 22 teams to our Charity Golf Day at Enville Golf Club in support of Acorns Children's Hospice.

With fantastic weather, great company and some friendly competition throughout the day, it was a brilliant event from start to finish.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, donated and bid in our raffle, we're proud to have raised an incredible ยฃ7,000 for Acorns. Every contribution will help support the vital work they do for children and families across our region.

A huge thank you to those who took part, donated raffle prizes and helped to make the day such a success. Seeing so many clients, contacts and colleagues come together for such a worthwhile cause was incredible. Thank you for helping us make a difference.

Not forgetting a shoutout to our winners on the day:

Divorce can feel daunting, particularly if you're unsure of what the process involves.

Since the introduction of no-fault divorce in 2022, the legal process in England and Wales has become more straightforward. However, many people still have questions about the steps involved and what happens at each stage.

One of the most common questions our Trusts & Estates team receives is: "Will I have to pay Inheritance Tax?" Closely followed by: "How can I reduce my liability?"

In her latest blog, Senior Associate Lawyer Shivali Gill TEP breaks down the key things everyone should know about IHT, including:

- What Inheritance Tax is and when it applies
- The current allowances available, including the Nil Rate Band and Residence Nil Rate Band
- How married couples and civil partners may be able to pass on up to ยฃ1 million tax-free
- Practical ways to reduce your estate's exposure to IHT through gifting and estate planning

With IHT charged at up to 40% on qualifying estates, taking advice early could help preserve more of your wealth for the people you care about most.

As Shivali says, why pay more tax than necessary when there may be legitimate ways to pass more on to your loved ones?

Six-figure settlement secured following a serious workplace accident.

Our client suffered significant back injuries after a pipe attached to a tanker split unexpectedly during a delivery, leaving him unable to return to work.

Despite complications involving an underlying condition and a complex claims process, Paul Woolliscroft and our Personal Injury team secured an admission of liability, supported the client's rehabilitation and successfully negotiated a six-figure settlement.

We're proud to have achieved a strong outcome that will help our client and his family move forward with their lives.

Being involved in a car accident is stressful. But what happens when the other vehicle is an ambulance, police car or fire engine responding to an emergency?

Many people assume the emergency driver is never at fault, but that's not always the case.

In our latest blog, Personal Injury specialist Perminder Devgun explains how these accidents are investigated, who may be responsible, and what rights you have if you've been involved in a collision with an emergency response vehicle.
