Calling all prospective pupils

A reminder that our Pupillage Open Evening is taking place on Wednesday 14 January 2026 in Birmingham (Christchurch House, 30 Waterloo Street). Please do let Mr Fleming know if you are intending to come.

It is an opportunity to meet with members of Chambers, staff, and the recruitment committee. It is an informal event at which you can ask questions and also see if you think Chambers would be the right fit for you.

Congratulations so Kirsty Allman for her recent appointment to the full time judiciary.

Head of Chambers, Oliver Woolhouse, says: “Whilst we will be sad to see her go, we are thrilled for Kirsty and congratulate her on her appointment.”

The King has appointed Kirsty Allman to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.

The Lady Chief Justice has deployed her to the Western Circuit, based at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court with effect from 2 June 2025.

Spotlight on Success

Jonathan Stone was instructed by CPS and Thames Valley Police Major Crime unit to prosecute Krisma Anthony for the attempted murder of Tharel Thompson at the Walkabout Club in Reading on 11th February 2024. Anthony stabbed Mr Thompson in the side of the head resulting in horrific life changing injuries. The prosecution team rejected Anthony’s plea for wounding with intent and pressed ahead with the trial for attempted murder. The Jury convicted Anthony on 21st August and HHJ Norton on the same day sentenced Anthony to 27 years imprisonment.
