REMINDER: The Role of Lawyers in Peace & Reconciliation Work: Coventry’s Story & The Good Friday Agreement

Join us next Tuesday for an inspiring and thought-provoking 30-minute online webinar exploring the role lawyers and NGOs can play in advancing peace and reconciliation.

The webinar will discuss the importance of the Belfast / Good Friday Agreement, and ongoing cross- community work to commemorate Coventry’s Mo Mowlam and the 30th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, in 2028 through “Peace in Practice” Exchange projects and a proposed peace park designed by children.

Caroline Brogan is a multi-award winning Solicitor. She manages projects at the Coventry Irish Society, with a particular interest in peace and reconciliation, social justice, and culture and heritage. Caroline works closely with Coventry’s Lord Mayor’s Peace Committee, and various Irish in Britain organisations, having spent four years as a Trustee on the Board of The Birmingham Irish Association and managing pro bono legal advice clinics there. In February 2026, she was featured by the Irish Embassy in London as a “Trailblazing Woman in the Community”.

Date: Tuesday 9th June
Time: 12pm – 12.30pm

There's still time to get involved in one of our most worthwhile events of the season: The Birmingham Legal Walk, which takes place on the 18th June.

It's a 10km sponsored walk along Birmingham’s iconic canals to raise vital funds for the provision of free legal advice in the Midlands.

Funds raised go directly to the Access Justice Foundation who have and continue to fund a number of National and Midlands Legal Charities including Support Through Court, Shelter, Central England Law Centre, Asylum Appeals Project, Victim Support, Domestic Abuse Volunteer Services , Rights of Women And Working Families.

By taking part, you will be walking shoulder to shoulder with fellow members of the Birmingham legal community led by our committed and diligent local Judiciary.

Judges, Law firms, barristers chambers, advice agencies, in house legal departments, and university law groups will walk in solidarity and to raise funds for this essential charity before enjoying a food and drinks reception provided by BPP University, 3 Brindley Place, B1 2JB.

Demand for legal advice services has risen dramatically over the past year. The rising cost of living has heaped immense pressure on legal advice agencies who are struggling to cope with such unprecedented demand. We believe everybody should be able to receive legal advice when they need it most. By joining the Birmingham Legal Walk, you can help to ensure the people of your community have fair access to justice, and the beneficiary agencies can keep the lights on, and the doors open for the people who need them most.

The walk will start at BPP University, 3 Brindley Place, B1 2JB at 5.00pm for Registration and will finish at the BPP University, 3 Brindley Place with food and drinks to be provided to each walker.

Date: Thursday 18th June
Time: Approx. 5pm - 8pm
Meeting Point: BPP University, 3 Brindley Place, Birmingham, B1 2JB
Price: FREE for all to attend
