Well done to Balhar Dhamrait (Bubs), from our Criminal Defence team, for his fantastic client feedback:

"I cannot recommend Balhar Dhamrait, better known as “Bubs”, at GT Stewart Solicitors highly enough.

Bubs represented me for my criminal case and was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. From the first time I spoke with him, he was professional, knowledgeable and straightforward, while also being incredibly supportive during what was an extremely stressful time.

His communication was excellent throughout. He always took the time to explain exactly what was happening, what my options were and what to expect at each stage of the case. I never felt left in the dark, and knowing I had someone with his experience and knowledge fighting my corner gave me a huge amount of confidence.

The preparation and attention to detail that went into my case were second to none. It was clear that Bubs genuinely cared about achieving the best possible outcome for me rather than treating me as just another client.

I’m extremely grateful to Bubs and the team at GT Stewart Solicitors for everything they did for me. The level of service, professionalism and support I received was exceptional.

If you ever find yourself needing a criminal defence solicitor, I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Bubs.

Thank you again for everything you did for me."

Balhar Dhamrait (Bubs) is a Consultant Solicitor in GT Stewart Solicitors Criminal Defence team and has worked in criminal defence law for around 20 years. GTS Client has been found not guilty at Inner London CC, Sitting at the Royal Courts of Justice

We represented a client charged with three counts of possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs, together with a count in possession of a bladed article. The case involved two defendants who were jointly charged following a police stop and search.

A bag containing drugs and a bladed article were found concealed within the vehicle, but our client, who was a passenger, denied any knowledge of the items. Throughout the trial, the defence highlighted the lack of evidence linking our client to the offences, including the absence of any forensic evidence. We also successfully opposed a bad character application made by the Crown.

After deliberating for just under four hours, the jury returned not guilty verdicts on all counts.

Our client was represented by Abbie Shepherd at trial, with Ana Derham acting as caseworker.

At our Birmingham Family Team, we recognise that care proceedings are about far more than legal process. They involve real families facing difficult decisions, uncertainty, and significant change.

Ensuring clients understand the proceedings, feel heard and receive clear, honest advice throughout their case is fundamental to effective representation.

Our Legal Assistant, Simran Ghataore, shares her thoughts on the importance of client care in public law children proceedings and why it remains central to achieving the best possible outcomes for children and families.

From 5 October, Caroline Hassani and Jack Stewart will be working with the University of Kent to support three student internships within our Criminal Defence team as part of the University's Criminal Justice Placement module.

Over the course of their nine-week placements, students will gain valuable insight into criminal defence practice, including shadowing Crown Court and Magistrates' Court hearings and trials, attending prison visits, and assisting with administrative tasks such as chasing evidence.

These internships provide students with an opportunity to bridge the gap between academic study and legal practice, developing a greater understanding of the criminal justice system while gaining hands-on experience in a busy legal environment. We look forward to welcoming the students to the team and supporting their professional development.

Client Acquitted of Sexual Assault Allegations Following a Five-Day Trial

We represented a client who was unanimously acquitted by a jury at Woolwich Crown Court of multiple allegations of r**e and assault by pe*******on following a five-day trial. The prosecution alleged that the offences had taken place over several years during the client's marriage and relied on evidence from the complainant, supporting witnesses, and extensive text message exchanges.

From the outset, our client denied all allegations. His case was that the allegations had been fabricated following the breakdown of the relationship. Through careful preparation and detailed investigation, the defence team uncovered evidence that the complainant had been engaged in an affair, including video footage obtained by the defence that formed an important part of the case presented at trial.

After hearing all of the evidence, the jury returned unanimous not guilty verdicts on all counts. Our client left court with his good character and employment intact and is able to continue maintaining his relationship with his young children.

Our client was represented by Kevin Williams, supervised by Will Russell, with Ben Hargreaves of Mountford Chambers instructed as defence counsel at trial.
