It's strange to learn your marriage might not count on paper. For a lot of couples, the nikah was the wedding. The legal side was never part of the conversation.

That's the real issue. Not what anyone did wrong, just paperwork left undone, and the people it affects find out far too late.

Most people's answer is no.

The law changed in December to say these things count as property you can leave behind. It didn't solve the part where nobody else has the password.

Most people do, and in the UK that assumption is exactly the problem.

Without a Will, British intestacy rules take over, and they don't follow the Islamic shares at all.
