In personal injury cases, you'll sometimes see a settlement described as "without admission of liability."
It can read like the other side is denying they did anything wrong, even though money is changing hands.
It's actually a standard part of how these cases settle. Liability doesn't need to be formally admitted for a claim to be settled and paid.
The wording protects the paying party's position, it's not a comment on how strong the claim was.
