Ready to make a difference!

Our latest and volunteers are all set to support pupils at Cliftonville Integrated Primary School in North Belfast.

A huge thank you to Ciara from Business in the Community Northern Ireland for delivering a brilliant training session and preparing our colleagues to help children strengthen their literacy and numeracy skills, build confidence, and discover the joy of learning.

We’re especially proud that Business in the Community’s ‘Time to…’ initiatives are supported by the A&O Shearman Foundation through our Belfast Grants Program, helping to create even more opportunities to make a positive difference in our local community.

🌈 Celebrating inclusion, visibility and belonging

It was fantastic to see so many colleagues join our LGBTea, held to coincide with National Coming Out Day.

As well as taking the time to celebrate visibility, inclusion, and belonging, colleagues tested their knowledge of Belfast’s vibrant LGBTQ+ community with our ‘Out in Belfast’ quiz.

A big thank you to our LGBTQ+ network for organising, and to everyone who joined us, took part in the quiz, sparked conversations, and helped create such a positive and welcoming atmosphere.

Slieve Donard Challenge for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland 🚁

Is there a better combination than getting outdoors and giving back?

Recently, three of our colleagues – John, Anna Leigh, and Laura – swapped their desks for hiking boots and took on Slieve Donard, raising more than £1,000 for Air Ambulance NI in the process.

With World Mental Health Day last weekend, their challenge was a lovely reminder to make time for our wellbeing, enjoy the outdoors and connect with others, while making a difference to an important local cause.

🚁 Supporting Air Ambulance Northern Ireland

Members of our Social Impact Committee recently had the opportunity to visit the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland base outside Lisburn and see first-hand the dedication, expertise and teamwork that goes into keeping this life-saving service operational.

The visit gave the team valuable insight into the work that happens behind the scenes and reinforced just how important fundraising is in helping to keep the service running.

We’re proud to support Air Ambulance Northern Ireland as our charity partner in Belfast and grateful to Kerry and the team for such a warm welcome.

And the fundraising continues! This weekend, three of our colleagues - John, Laura and Anna Leigh - are taking on the Slieve Donard challenge in support of the charity. We wish them the very best of luck for tomorrow and hope they enjoy every step of the climb! 🫶

What an incredible morning at our Cake & Connect coffee morning and bake-off! 🍰

Our café was buzzing as colleagues came together to support our global social impact partner, United for Global Mental Health.

With a fantastic range of homemade bakes on display, our judges had the difficult task of choosing the winners from an incredibly talented group of bakers. Congratulations to star baker Cloe, along with runners-up, Betty and Karen, for their outstanding bakes!

The queue was out the door throughout the event, and thanks to the generosity of everyone who baked, donated, and stopped by for a treat, we raised an amazing £875! This will help United for Global Mental Health advocate for stronger mental health support around the world, including initiatives to reduce the risk of su***de and improved access to care.

A huge thank you to all our bakers, judges, and supporters for making the event such a success. It was a brilliant way to create space for people to come together, connect with others, and support an important cause!

A huge thank you to our fantastic volunteers – Winnie and Annabel - who gave up their evening last week to support the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland's Runway Run. 🚁

While our team of 18 runners took on the challenge on the runway, our volunteers were on hand behind the scenes helping the event run smoothly and supporting an incredible cause.

Thank you for representing A&O Shearman at the event. Your time, enthusiasm and commitment made a real difference for our local charity partner, Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.👏
