We are incredibly proud of our Litigation Paralegal, Rachel Mackrell, who recently took to the skies to raise money for Evora Hospice! 🪂

As a member of our Credit Hire Team, Rachel is used to dealing with hire agreements and with vehicles that have been off the road, although this may be the first time she has chosen to be 10,000 feet above it!

Rachel completed the charity skydive alongside Ellen, inspired by their amazing Aunty Audrey, who has supported the Hospice for many years and has completed two skydives herself!

A brilliant achievement for a cause very close to their hearts. Well done, Rachel and Ellen. Everyone at Lacey Solicitors is extremely proud of you both! 💚

We were delighted to welcome Sounds Like Jack to our Belfast office during Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026. It’s safe to say the musical talent levels increased considerably the moment Jack and Tommy walked through the door!

Excellent artwork left in the conference room today.

At first we thought Terry Lacey and Damian McGeady had been doing some colouring in during lunch.

On closer inspection, everything was neatly inside the lines so it couldn't have been them.

Lovely work from one of our tiny office visitors.

We were delighted to welcome James from Aquinas Diocesan Grammar School, Belfast, and Lea from Slemish College, Ballymena, to Lacey Solicitors for work experience last week.

During their time with us, James and Lea gained an insight into life in a busy legal practice, including exposure to litigation, client meetings, networking opportunities, and modern insurance issues.

Both were enthusiastic, professional and keen to learn throughout the week. We hope the experience gave them a valuable introduction to the legal profession and wish them every success with their future studies and careers.

🚗 £25,000.00 For Mum Originally Offered £9000.00. – Road Traffic Accident Claim Case Study

Our client was injured when the vehicle in which she was travelling was struck from behind while stationary at a roundabout. She suffered a nosebleed, whiplash type injuries to her neck and upper back. She also developed a slight ringing in her ear following the collision.

⚖️ Liability for the accident was admitted. We obtained medical evidence to assess the extent of her injuries and properly quantify the claim.

💼 The defendant’s insurer, made initial settlement offers of £9,000 and later £12,500. After reviewing the medical evidence and damages guidelines, we advised our client that these offers did not reflect the true value of the claim and they were rejected by our office.

📄 The insurer then withdrew all offers and made no further proposal. Proceedings were issued and the matter was advanced to court by Ruaidhrí Austin Partner.

🏛️ The court ultimately awarded our client £25,000.00 in damages, together with legal costs.

✅ A strong result and a very happy client.

At Lacey Solicitors, we are always delighted to support local initiatives and community groups, and it makes us especially proud to see the Shankill Juniors 2011s lifting the trophy.

We are proud to sponsor local community sport, and it is fantastic to see this talented group of young players achieve such a well-deserved success. Winning a league title is never easy. It requires dedication, teamwork, discipline and commitment over the course of an entire season.

This achievement is a testament not only to the players on the pitch, but also to the coaches, volunteers and families who support the team week in and week out. Grassroots football plays an incredibly important role in local communities, helping young people build confidence, friendships and life skills that will stay with them long after the final whistle.
