Meet Lucy Goaman Cotter, a Legal Assistant based at our Barnstaple office.

Lucy joined the firm in 2023 as a legal secretary, she worked alongside studying her undergraduate degree in Law at the University of Exeter. Lucy is currently undertaking the Legal Practice Course with The University of Law and thereafter hopes to complete her training contract.

Lucy has worked within both the Residential Conveyancing department and the Family department, she is currently working within the Commercial Property department where she has gained invaluable experience.

Outside of work, Lucy enjoys spending time with her horse and helping out on her family's farm.

A lovely summer evening at the firm! ☀️

We recently stepped away from the office for our summer BBQ—an evening of good food, great company and plenty of laughs.

It was a wonderful opportunity to relax and enjoy some time outside of the office. We’re very lucky to have such a dedicated group of people, and it was great to celebrate the summer together.

Meet Sarah James, a Conveyancing Executive based at our Bideford office.

Sarah has worked in the legal profession for over 35 years starting off as an Office Junior in a local firm when she was 16.

Sarah has worked for BHR for 21 years and assists Nicola Emo within the Bideford Conveyancing Department. As a Conveyancing Executive, Sarah deals with a wide range of residential property transactions. She has helped hundreds, if not thousands of clients over the years in dealing with the pressures of moving house.

In her spare time she enjoys walking on the beach with her husband and their Springer Spaniel Joe, plays skittles for a local ladies' team and enjoys taking holidays in the sun with her family and friends. She also enjoys being an amateur weather watcher and would love nothing more than to go storm chasing in America.
