What is the collection procedure for my OCI Card? OCI Cards will be delivered by Post/Courier only once approved and ready. Applicants are required to provide one Self-addressed Special Delivery envelope (Silver Royal Mail Envelope) to return the Passport with OCI Card OR you can use the courier service offered at the centre. One envelope per application is required to return the original documents and processed OCI Card. An OCI cardholder is not entitled to undertake any Journalistic, Filming of Documentary, Missionary, Mountaineering and Research work in India. They need prior approval from the concerned Department/Ministry of the Government of India before undertaking such activities. If the OCI cardholder acquires nationality of a different country after obtaining the OCI card, except that of Pakistan and Bangladesh, he/she shall also be allowed to enter/exit India on the strength of his/her new passport of the recently acquired nationality and OCI Registration Certificate (OCI card). Applicants carrying Birth Certificates which contain only one parent’s details,(other parent’s details are not mentioned or the parent is unknown), are not eligible to apply for an OCI. Applicants applying on the basis of spouse need to submit registered marriage certificate. Marriage should have been registered and subsisted for a continuous period of not less than 2 years immediately preceding the presentation of the application. Applicant should also carry a consent letter written by the spouse (of Indian Origin) providing consent for the applicant to be able to obtain an OCI based on his/her Indian Origin. Applicants applying for OCI on the basis of their Indian origin spouses, now deceased, can only apply for an OCI by providing their proof of Indian Origin or Nativity Certificate. In case the applicant is ‘unemployed' proof of last employment need to be submitted along with the application. In case the applicant is a ‘businessman' he/she should advise their position & nature of the business that the company undertakes on company’s letterhead and should include it with the application.
