Children Inheriting Without a Will
When someone dies without a Will, a child’s inheritance does not simply pass to the surviving parent.
The estate must first be properly administered. Any money due to a child will normally be held for them until they reach the required age, with the people responsible for it having legal duties about how it is managed.
This is one reason why making a Will is particularly important when you have young children. It allows you to give clearer instructions about who should deal with the estate and how the children’s inheritance should be looked after. 📝
