LANDLORDS: THE NEW RENTAL PROPERTY REGISTER IS COMING.



From 15 December 2026, landlords across England will begin registering their rental properties under the new Register Your Rental Property service.

📅 WHEN DO YOU NEED TO REGISTER?

Registration is being introduced region by region, with landlords given 3 months to register once their region opens.

⏰ REMEMBER

You have 3 months to register once registration opens in your region.

All properties must be registered by

14 NOVEMBER 2027.

All actively let properties must be registered by 14 November 2027.

💷 WHAT WILL IT COST?

£65 per property, per year.

The registration fee will need to be renewed annually.

🏠 WHO NEEDS TO REGISTER?

The requirement applies to private-sector landlords in England with assured or regulated tenancies.

Landlords will need to provide information about themselves and their properties, including relevant property, tenancy and safety information.

📍 HAVE PROPERTIES IN MORE THAN ONE REGION?

You can choose to register all your properties from 15 December 2026, rather than waiting for each region’s rollout date.

Your agent can help provide certain information on your behalf, but the landlord remains responsible for completing the registration.

CHECK YOUR PROPERTY’S REGISTRATION DATE

For landlords in the North West including Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and the surrounding villages, the key dates are 15 May 2027, when the registration regulations are due to commence, and 14 August 2027, which is the deadline to register.
