Boardman, Hawkins & Osborne LLP

Boardman, Hawkins & Osborne LLP Boardman, Hawkins & Osborne LLP is a niche family practice established in 2018. The three founding partners are Emily Boardman, Ruth Hawkins and Irena Osborne.

The firm offers legal advice and representation and family mediation. The partners and consultants all have established reputations for particular specialisms and many of them appear in both Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500. Our ethos is based in a strong commitment to supporting individuals in some of the most difficult circumstances of their lives: divorce and separation; disputes over chil

dren; involvement with social services and domestic abuse. Each of our clients has their own needs and we tailor our legal advice and packages to each situation. Some clients want to do everything themselves, except appear in court; while some want a full service and representation throughout their process. We offer competitive private rates, fixed fees where appropriate and legal aid for eligible cases and clients. On Twitter on

Well done Irena, and the rest of the team who also volunteer for Flag DV.

How many different ways can you volunteer with FLAG DV? 💜

For Day 2 of Volunteer Week, we are proud to spotlight Irena Osborne, Founding Partner at BH&O, FLAG DV Trustee, and one of our dedicated pro-bono legal adviser volunteers.

Irena represents the incredible range of ways volunteers support survivors through FLAG DV. Whether helping to shape the strategic direction of the organisation as a Trustee, or providing free legal advice to survivors facing complex family law matters, Irena’s commitment, expertise and compassion make a lasting difference.

Irena has been a valued supporter of FLAG DV for many years, alongside her colleagues at Boardman, Hawkins & Osborne LLP, and we are incredibly proud to work with her. As one of our longest-standing volunteers, her dedication has helped strengthen our services, support our growth, and provide vital guidance and reassurance to countless survivors navigating overwhelming and life-changing circumstances.

Today, FLAG DV delivers three core services:
💜 Impartial family law advice appointments
💜 Trauma-informed family court support
💜 Empowering Breaking the Fear programmes

Everything we do is made possible through the passion, skill and dedication of our volunteers. Together, we are able to reach more survivors, expand our services, and continue responding to the growing need for specialist support for domestic abuse survivors facing family court — often without access to legal aid, advice or emotional support elsewhere.

Volunteers like Irena are at the heart of that work.

To Irena, and to every member of our volunteer team, thank you. Your time, expertise and belief in our mission help ensure survivors do not face family court alone. 💜

If you are interested in volunteering with FLAG DV, if you are a professional supporting survivors and would like to learn more about the support we can provide, or if you are a survivor in need of support yourself, please visit our website or contact us directly to find out more.

In support of Volunteering Week, we’re reflecting on the importance of giving back to the communities around us.

At BH&O, we regularly see how vital local and smaller charities, support services, and community organisations are in helping people navigate some of life’s most difficult moments, particularly those that support families. Their work often sits alongside ours, providing essential emotional and practical support when it’s needed most.

We’re proud to be actively involved in fundraising and charity initiatives, including our recent participation in Race Across Oxfordshire in support of Homeless Oxfordshire, a cause that works to provide safe accommodation and support for people experiencing homelessness across the county.

Volunteering and fundraising are a reminder that support takes many forms, and even small contributions can make a meaningful difference.

We remain committed to supporting both our clients and our wider community.

When it comes to decisions involving children, it’s natural to have questions.

Child-inclusive mediation is designed to help parents better understand how their child is feeling, in a safe and supportive way.

We’ve answered some of the questions we’re most often asked, to help you feel more informed about how the process works and whether it may be right for your family.

Happy Bank Holiday Monday everyone!

If local folk are looking for something fun to do today, the Vicar’s fun day is on in Sutton Courtenay from 12-4 and we’re helping out by sponsoring the charity cake and tea (or long cold drinks in this weather!) stall to make sure that every penny the wonderful Fiona Frost and her team takes, goes to charity.

Partner Ruth Hawkins will also be helping and has already baked. Come and say hello.
