We’re looking for a Matrimonial Lawyer to join our growing family law team in Abingdon.

This is an opportunity to join a specialist, award-winning family law firm where our people, our clients and our wider community are at the heart of what we do.

You’ll work across a varied caseload, including matrimonial finances, TOLATA applications, pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements, Children Act proceedings, international relocation and domestic abuse cases.

One of the questions we're asked most often is: "Is mediation legally binding?"

The answer is no - the mediation process itself is not legally binding. Its purpose is to help people have constructive conversations and reach agreements together.

If an agreement is reached, it can then be recorded and, where appropriate, formalised into a legally binding Consent Order or Separation Agreement.

For many families, mediation offers a practical way to resolve issues while keeping greater control over the outcome.

We are so proud to be supporting this event and the continued efforts to tackle domestic abuse in our town. Partners Ruth Hawkins and Irena Osborne will be involved in this event.

Join us for the launch of Abingdon against Domestic Abuse (AaDA) on Tuesday 15th September 2026, beginning at 6:00 pm.

AaDA is a new community initiative with a vision to create a town where all forms of domestic abuse are recognised early, challenged safely, and responded to with compassion, understanding, and with accessible local services.

The evening will include a presentation on AaDA, contributions from key partners and local people with lived experience. Followed by a Q&A session and an opportunity for you to tell us about your thoughts on the plans.

There will also be an opportunity to view and comment on the posters and logos created for AaDA by acclaimed artist and supporter Geoff Dunbar.

After the presentations, there will be a screening of The Burning Bed, the 1984 film that helped transform public understanding of domestic abuse and bring the issue into mainstream discussion.

Abingdon Town Council and the Abbey Cinema are kindly supporting this event.
