🌍 L'UEHJ, partenaire du projet Just AI-Bloc EU géré par l'European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) Luxembourg, a participé ce 2 juillet 2026 à la deuxième formation Train the Trainers, consacrée à l'intelligence artificielle et à l'exécution forcée, qui a réuni plus de cent participants, juges, avocats et huissiers de justice venus de toute l'Europe.

Jos Uitdehaag, premier Vice-président, et Patrick Gielen, Secrétaire général, y sont intervenus en qualité d'experts, le premier sur les enjeux éthiques et sociaux de l'intelligence artificielle, le second sur ses applications concrètes dans l'exécution forcée, avec un fil conducteur essentiel : l'humain doit rester maître de la décision.

🙏 Merci à l'European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA), à Cristina M. Mariottini, à Nadia Rusinova et à l'ensemble des participants pour la richesse des échanges.

🌍 The UEHJ, partner in the Just AI-Bloc EU project managed by European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) Luxembourg, took part on 2 July 2026 in the second Train the Trainers workshop, dedicated to artificial intelligence and enforcement, which brought together more than one hundred participants, judges, lawyers and judicial officers from all over Europe.

Jos Uitdehaag, First Vice-President, and Patrick Gielen, Secretary General, contributed as experts, the former on the ethical and social issues raised by artificial intelligence, the latter on its practical applications in enforcement, with one essential thread running through the day: the human professional must remain in command.

🌍 L'UIHJ était présente au European Civil Procedure Seminar à la KU Leuven, organisé par le European Civil Justice Centre.

⚖️ Représentée par son Secrétaire général Patrick Gielen, l'UIHJ a partagé son expertise sur la pratique de la signification des actes, l'exécution et le rôle grandissant de la digitalisation dans la justice civile européenne.

🎙️ Un échange riche aux côtés de Willem Visser, Emma van Gelder, Bart Krans et Alan Uzelac.

📘 L'événement a également célébré la parution du manuel « European Civil Procedure » (De Gruyter), dirigé par Xandra Kramer, Stefaan Voet et Adriani Dori.

🌍⚖️ A special day in Portugal for both the profession and the future of the international judicial officer community.

The UIHJ joined the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Statute of the Order of Solicitors and Enforcement Agents (OSAE) and officially launched preparations for the 26th UIHJ International Congress, which will take place in Estoril, Portugal, from 28 to 30 April 2027.

🤝 The visit highlighted the strong partnership between the UIHJ and the OSAE and provided an opportunity to celebrate five decades of professional excellence and institutional development.

📌 During the ceremony at the Assembly of the Republic, UIHJ President Marc Schmitz officially handed the Portuguese Minister of Justice an invitation to the 26th UIHJ International Congress.

Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming a reality in justice systems across Europe

At the 46th Plenary Meeting of the CEPEJ of the Council of Europe, discussions focused on the impact of automation and AI on judicial and enforcement proceedings.

📌 Examples from several European countries demonstrated how technology is already being used to improve efficiency, while preserving fundamental principles of justice and judicial independence.

🤝 The UIHJ presented its international AI Working Group and contributed to discussions on the future of digital justice, including AI in enforcement procedures, electronic auctions and digital assets.

🌍⚖️ L’intelligence artificielle devient progressivement une réalité au sein des systèmes judiciaires européens.

Lors de la 46e réunion plénière de la CEPEJ du Conseil de l’Europe, les discussions ont porté sur l’impact de l’automatisation et de l’IA dans les procédures judiciaires et d’exécution.

📌 Plusieurs exemples européens ont montré comment les nouvelles technologies peuvent améliorer l’efficacité de la justice tout en préservant les principes fondamentaux et l’indépendance des juridictions.

🤝 L’UIHJ a présenté son groupe de travail international consacré à l’intelligence artificielle et a contribué aux réflexions sur l’avenir de la justice numérique, notamment l’IA dans les procédures d’exécution, les enchères électroniques et les actifs numériques.

🌍⚖️ Strengthening judicial cooperation across Europe through innovation and expertise.

The UIHJ participated in the 106th Meeting of the Contact Points of the European Judicial Network in Civil and Commercial Matters, represented by its Secretary General, Patrick Gielen.

📌 Particular attention was given to the implementation of **JUDEX**, the electronic platform supporting the application of the EU Service Regulation and the Taking of Evidence Regulation.

🤝 The UIHJ highlighted its training activities related to JUDEX, its involvement in the JODES and e-FILIT projects, and its ongoing work to support legal professionals in the practical application of European instruments.

The discussions reaffirmed the importance of cooperation between legal practitioners and European institutions in strengthening access to justice and legal certainty across borders.

🌍⚖️ Renforcer la coopération judiciaire européenne grâce à l’innovation et à l’expertise.

L’UIHJ a participé à la 106e réunion des points de contact du Réseau judiciaire européen en matière civile et commerciale, représentée par son secrétaire général, Patrick Gielen.

📌 Une attention particulière a été accordée à la mise en œuvre de **JUDEX**, la plateforme électronique soutenant l’application du règlement européen relatif à la signification des actes et du règlement relatif au recueil des preuves.

🤝 L’UIHJ a mis en avant ses activités de formation liées à JUDEX, sa participation aux projets JODES et e-FILIT, ainsi que ses travaux destinés à accompagner les professionnels du droit dans l’application pratique des instruments européens.

Les échanges ont confirmé l’importance de la coopération entre les praticiens du droit et les institutions européennes pour renforcer l’accès à la justice et la sécurité juridique au-delà des frontières.

🕊️ In Memoriam – Roger Dujardin (1953–2026)

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que l’UIHJ a appris le décès de Roger Dujardin, huissier de justice honoraire de l’arrondissement judiciaire d’Anvers et ancien vice-président de l’UIHJ.

Durant plus de douze années, il a marqué l’histoire de notre Union par son engagement, sa vision humaniste de la justice et son attachement indéfectible à l’État de droit. Auteur de nombreux ouvrages juridiques, rédacteur en chef du Magazine international de l’UIHJ et membre de son Conseil scientifique, il a contribué au rayonnement international de notre profession.

Au-delà de ses qualités professionnelles exceptionnelles, Roger Dujardin restera dans nos mémoires comme un homme de grande culture, de profonde courtoisie et d’une remarquable convivialité.

L’ensemble de la famille mondiale de l’UIHJ adresse ses plus sincères condoléances à son épouse Christa, à sa famille et à ses proches.

Qu’il repose en paix.

🕊️ In Memoriam – Roger Dujardin (1953–2026)

It is with great sadness that the UIHJ learned of the passing of Roger Dujardin, honorary judicial officer of the judicial district of Antwerp (Belgium) and former Vice-President of the UIHJ.

For more than twelve years, he left a lasting mark on our Union through his commitment, his humanistic vision of justice and his unwavering dedication to the rule of law. Author of numerous legal publications, Editor-in-Chief of the UIHJ International Magazine and member of its Scientific Council, he played a key role in strengthening the international standing of our profession.

Beyond his outstanding professional achievements, Roger Dujardin will be remembered as a man of great culture, exceptional kindness and genuine friendship.

The entire worldwide UIHJ family extends its deepest condolences to his wife Christa, his family and loved ones.

May he rest in peace.
