The International Union of Judicial Officers (UIHJ) represents its members to international organisations and ensures collaboration with national professional bodies. It works to improve national procedural law and international treaties and makes every effort to promote ideas, projects and initiatives which help to move forward and elevate the independent status of officers of Court.

L'UIHJ et l'UEHJ étaient à Luxembourg les 29 et 30 septembre pour la conférence Just AI-Bloc EU de l'European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) sur l'IA et la justice civile.

Bringing the international perspective closer to judicial officers in Poland 🇵🇱

⚖️ On 26 September 2026 Małgorzata Pędziszczak, member of the Executive Committee of the UEHJ, took part as a speaker in a professional training seminar organised by the Chamber of Judicial Officers in Szczecin, Poland Izba Komornicza w Szczecinie

🔎 Her presentation focused on the different structures and financing models of enforcement fees across Europe, highlighting why enforcement costs cannot be meaningfully compared without considering the institutional and economic model behind each system.

🌍 A dedicated part of the presentation was also devoted to the UIHJ and UEHJ, introducing their history, structure and activities, as well as their role in representing the profession at European and international level.

🤝 The seminar provided an opportunity to underline the practical value of international cooperation: exchanging experience, learning from different enforcement systems and contributing to common professional standards.

⚖️ At the heart of this cooperation remain fundamental principles promoted by the UIHJ: the rule of law, access to justice and the right to enforcement.

🇫🇷 Rapprocher la dimension internationale des huissiers de justice en Pologne 🇵🇱

⚖️ Le 26 septembre 2026, Małgorzata Pędziszczak, membre du Comité exécutif de l’UEHJ, est intervenue lors d’une formation professionnelle organisée par la Chambre des huissiers de justice de Szczecin, en Pologne Izba Komornicza w Szczecinie

🔎 Son intervention était consacrée aux différentes structures et aux différents modèles de financement des frais d’exécution en Europe, soulignant pourquoi les coûts de l’exécution ne peuvent être comparés de manière pertinente sans tenir compte du modèle institutionnel et économique propre à chaque système.

🌍 Une partie spécifique de la présentation était également consacrée à l’UIHJ et à l’UEHJ, afin de présenter leur histoire, leur structure et leurs activités, ainsi que leur rôle dans la représentation de la profession aux niveaux européen et international.

🤝 Cette formation a également permis de souligner la valeur concrète de la coopération internationale : échanger des expériences, apprendre des différents systèmes d’exécution et contribuer au développement de standards professionnels communs.

⚖️ Au cœur de cette coopération demeurent des principes fondamentaux défendus par l’UIHJ : l’État de droit, l’accès à la justice et le droit à l’exécution.

On 16–17 September 2026, the UEHJ, represented by its Patrick Gielen Secretary General UIHJ, participated in the European Commission’s DG JUST Calls 2025 Kick-off Meeting in Brussels.

The two-day meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the implementation and monitoring of EU co-funded projects, including project management, reporting, financial aspects and impact.

It was also a great opportunity to meet our partners EIPA and ERA, with whom the UEHJ is involved in two European training projects focusing respectively on artificial intelligence and blockchain, and on the digitalisation of European judicial procedures.

Les 16 et 17 septembre 2026, l’UEHJ, représentée par Patrick Gielen, secrétaire général UIHJ, a participé à Bruxelles au Kick-off Meeting des appels DG JUST 2025 organisé par la Commission européenne.

Deux journées d’échanges consacrées à la mise en œuvre et au suivi des projets européens cofinancés : gestion, reporting, aspects financiers et impact des projets.

Une belle occasion également de retrouver nos partenaires EIPA et ERA, avec lesquels l’UEHJ participe à deux projets européens de formation, consacrés respectivement à l’intelligence artificielle et la blockchain, et à la digitalisation des procédures judiciaires européennes.

🇬🇧 The UEHJ was represented in Brussels by Patrick Gielen, Secretary General of the UIHJ, at the CNUE conference on EU Inc. – the 28th Regime, which brought together key stakeholders including Hubert Gambs, Deputy Director-General of DG JUST, and MEP René Repasi.

The current proposal remains insufficiently formal regarding the constitution of companies and contains gaps that could have negative consequences for enforcement and the rule of law. Our Position Paper addresses these concerns.

🤝 Together with notaries and other legal professions, we can help shape an instrument ensuring legal certainty, effectiveness and respect for the Rule of Law.

L’UIHJ est heureuse de partager la publication du dernier numéro de la revue Ars æqui, consacré notamment au 10e anniversaire du Code mondial de l’exécution.

Ce numéro réunit trois contributions d’Adrian Stoica, Guillaume Payan et Patrick Gielen, qui portent un regard sur les principes du Code mondial, son évolution et son avenir face notamment à la digitalisation et à l’intelligence artificielle.

Dix ans après son adoption, le Code mondial de l’exécution poursuit ainsi son évolution pour accompagner les transformations de la justice et de l’exécution.

The UIHJ is pleased to share the publication of the latest issue of Ars æqui, notably dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Global Code of Enforcement.

This issue brings together three contributions by Adrian Stoica, Guillaume Payan and Patrick Gielen, exploring the principles of the Global Code, its evolution and its future, particularly in the context of digitalisation and artificial intelligence.

Ten years after its adoption, the Global Code of Enforcement continues to evolve alongside the transformation of justice and enforcement.

On 13–14 August, the UIHJ took part in the 17th National Congress of Federal Judicial Officers of Brazil, organised by FENASSOJAF.

Represented by Board Member Malone Cunha, the UIHJ contributed to discussions on a key challenge for the profession: Artificial Intelligence and the future of judicial enforcement.

On 27–28 August 2026, the UIHJ, represented by its President Marc Schmitz and Secretary General Patrick Gielen, participated in the international conference organised in Bangkok by the Legal Ex*****on Department (LED) of Thailand’s Ministry of Justice in the presence of Thailand’s Minister of Justice, Pol. Lt. Gen. Rutthaphon Naowarat.

Two days of high-level discussions on the future of enforcement, digitalisation, AI and cross-border cooperation, with the important participation of the HCCH - Hague Conference on Private International Law and representatives of ASEAN Member States.

An important step in strengthening the UIHJ’s ties in Southeast Asia and building new cooperation. 🌏🤝

Our warmest thanks to Director-General Seaksan Sooksang, the entire LED team and especially Sirikwan Saengchand for their outstanding welcome and organisation.
