Somebody Is Sending Children to Kill on the Costa del Sol
A cop on holiday, a teenager Spain lost, and a town that keeps turning up. Inside True Crime Stories is looking into it.
Ghent. July. Late.
An off-duty Spanish policeman is walking back to his hotel. He’s on holiday with his family. He isn’t hunting anyone... he’s hunting his bed.
Then he passes a group of young men, and one face stops him dead.
He knows that face. Everyone in his unit on the Costa del Sol knows it. It belongs to a teenager accused of firing 18 bullets into a 25-year-old outside a Fuengirola cannabis club. The victim, by most accounts, wasn’t even the one somebody had paid to kill. Spain locked the boy up, then had to let him go when the legal clock ran out, and then lost him.
So the policeman does what policemen do. He follows.
That’s one thread. Here’s what else is happening.
In 2024, a Swedish boy was picked up in Benalmádena, sent south to kill, with an assault r***e waiting and an electric scooter for the getaway. The trail led to a family running recruitment from a flat in Alicante.
Last summer, two more were intercepted in Málaga, masked and riding towards the seafront at midnight.
And last week, a Marbella surgeon was shot dead inside his own clinic. An 18-year-old has been arrested. Reports say he’d been staying in a holiday flat... in Benalmádena.
Kids, recruited on their phones, flown in and handed a gun.
Inside True Crime Stories is looking into it.
I spent a career in police work, and the first lesson never changes: separate what’s known from what’s being said. Right now, a great deal is being said, and much of it is still behind judicial secrecy, in a youth court, or in a police file in another country.
So I’m watching, reading and checking. I want to know who is placing the orders, how a child in Stockholm ends up holding a gun in Fuengirola, why Benalmádena keeps turning up, and how a country loses a teenager accused of murder.
When there’s enough solid ground to stand on, I’ll bring you the full story here. Facts, not rumours.
Until then, keep your eyes open.
