Regulatory Radar 10: Passes every EU check. Fails Spain’s.
EU-compliant. Labelling reviewed. Two years selling in Germany and France without a single issue.
Not enough to sell in Spain.
🇪🇸 Spain requires a mandatory prior notification to AESAN before any food supplement goes on the market. No other major European country has the same system. Most brands find out when it’s already too late: an inspection, a platform asking for proof, a distributor requesting compliance documentation.
By then, the product has been on the market for months without notification. The room to manoeuvre gets small, fast.
What makes it worse: AESAN’s controls increasingly start online. A non-notified supplement with an active Amazon listing or a branded website is more exposed than most brands assume.
