VALIDITY OF UK DRIVING LICENCES

As of the 1st May 2022, if you have been legally resident in Spain for more than 6 months, your UK licence will no longer be valid for driving in Spain.

The British and Spanish governments continue to negotiate on long-term arrangements for exchanging driving licences without needing to take a practical test, but if it is imperative that you drive, the government does not recommend that you wait for the outcome of the negotiations to take action to exchange your licence.

Be advised that Trussler Law does not deal with licence exchanges, this is for information purposes only.

VALIDITY OF UK DRIVING LICENSES EXTENDED

Spain has extended once again the validity of UK driving licenses until the 31st December 2021, in light of the negotiations between the UK and Spain to reach a bilateral agreement for the exchange of UK licenses post-Brexit without the need for a practical exam.

Spain has extended the validity of UK driving licenses until the 31st October 2021. This would appear to be a further sign of a bilateral agreement being reached for the exchange of UK licenses post-Brexit.
