Can you work for a Spanish company while on Spain’s Digital Nomad Visa?
Yes, but there are important conditions. The visa is primarily designed for remote work for companies or clients based outside Spain. If you are self-employed, you can work with Spanish companies, but this cannot exceed 20% of your total professional activity.

Starting work in Spain? Your Spanish Social Security Number (Número de la Seguridad Social) is one of the first and most important administrative steps you'll need.

If you're planning to work in Spain as an employee or self-employed (autónomo), obtaining a Social Security Number is a legal requirement. Without it, you cannot be registered with Spain's Social Security system or begin employment legally.

Why do you need one?
✔️ Start employment with a Spanish employer.
✔️ Register as self-employed (autónomo).
✔️ Pay social security contributions.
✔️ Access eligible social security benefits.
✔️ Build your contribution and employment record.
