Managing Editor for the International Journal of Policing and Security (IJPS)
Overview:
The International Journal of Policing and Security (IJPS) seeks a dedicated and experienced Managing Editor to join our team. The Managing Editor will be pivotal in overseeing the journal's day-to-day operations and ensuring high-quality, peer-reviewed research publication. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to an international platform that advances the fields of policing, law enforcement, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
Editorial Management: Oversee the editorial workflow, from submission to publication, ensuring timely and efficient processing of manuscripts.
Peer Review Coordination: Manage the peer review process, including selecting reviewers, communicating with authors and reviewers, and providing decision-making support for the editorial board.
Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and integrity of published content by rigorously adhering to the journal’s standards and ethical guidelines.
Publication Oversight: Coordinate the production of each issue, including editing, proofreading, and layout, in collaboration with the production team.
Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for authors, reviewers, and editorial board members, fostering positive relationships and effective communication.
Strategic Development: Contribute to the journal's strategic planning and development, identifying opportunities for growth, innovation, and improvement.
Community Engagement: Promote the journal within the academic and professional communities, increasing its visibility and impact.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: A degree in a relevant field. Advanced degrees (e.g., MA, PhD) are preferred.
Experience: Proven experience in academic publishing, editorial management, or a related role. Experience with open-access journals and the Public Knowledge Project’s Open Journal Systems (OJS) is highly desirable.
