YOA advised 𝐊𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐫𝟐𝟐 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞), a production company specialising in creative documentaries, on 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬-𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐲𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐭-𝐨𝐟-𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐬 𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐬 arising in connection with the documentary series “From Istanbul to Cairo: Stories of Modern Art”.

The engagement involved a 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬-𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐲𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐭-𝐨𝐟-𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 concerning the use and exploitation of artworks and other visual materials in the documentary. YOA assessed the applicable copyright regimes across 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐄𝐠𝐲𝐩𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐛 𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, including the duration of copyright protection, public-domain status and the identification of relevant rights holders.

The firm also advised on the legal requirements for the 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬, including permissions and rights clearances, copyright and moral rights, artists’ credits, and the appropriate agreements for the intended uses.

YOA’s Founder, Dr. Yasser OMAR AMINE, was invited as an international speaker at 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐲𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐛 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧, held in Algiers, Algeria, from 25 to 27 November 2025, jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Algerian National Office for Copyright and Related Rights (ONDA).

On 25 November, Dr. Amine participated in the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐧 “𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐲𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐃𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦”, where he delivered a presentation entitled “The Art Market and the Implementation of the Artists’ Resale Right in Arab Countries: Current Landscape, Challenges and Perspectives.” His presentation addressed the current state of the Artists’ Resale Right across the Arab region, the legal and practical challenges surrounding its implementation, and its importance in strengthening artists’ economic rights and contributing to the development of a sustainable and dynamic art market. He also contributed to the forum’s roundtable discussions, engaging with experts, policymakers, and practitioners on the role of copyright in supporting creative industries and fostering innovation across the region.

On 26–27 November, Dr. Amine was invited as an international speaker and WIPO consultant to the 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐲𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐛 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧, where he delivered a presentation entitled “Copyright in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Digital Challenges and Rights Perception in Arab Creative Industries,” addressing emerging copyright issues related to artificial intelligence, digital challenges, and the development of creative industries in the Arab region. The meeting brought together directors of copyright offices from across the Arab region (Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen), international experts, and representatives of leading copyright and related rights organizations (IFPI, SCAPR, and IAF) to exchange perspectives and strengthen regional cooperation.

YOA’s Founder, Dr. Yasser OMAR AMINE, was invited as an international speaker and the representative of the Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority (EGIPA) at the 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬’ 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Moroccan Bureau of Copyright and Related Rights (BMDAV), held in Rabat, Morocco, from 14 to 16 October 2025.

Dr. Amine delivered a presentation entitled “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬’ 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬”, addressing the development of the African and Arab art markets, the legal frameworks governing the Artists’ Resale Right, and the principal challenges surrounding its implementation across the region. The presentation also provided a comparative overview of African and Arab legislation on the Artists’ Resale Right, highlighting the legal, economic, and institutional challenges associated with its practical implementation.

The conference brought together representatives of intellectual property offices, collective management organizations (CMOs), legal experts, visual artists, and art market professionals from more than twenty African countries to exchange expertise, share best practices, and discuss practical approaches to strengthening the recognition and implementation of the Artists’ Resale Right throughout Africa.
