The Egyptian-Chinese partnership comes first to execute the “Ain Sokhna – Alamein” High-Speed Electric Rail that should cover 543 km with 250 km/h speed, with cost of $9 bn.
On Thursday, September the 3rd, the Egyptian-Chinese consortium (Samcrete Engineers & Contractors SE&C - SEMAF - CCECC - China Railway CRCC 14th Bureau Group - China Railway 20 Bureau Group Corp.) came first in offers for executing the Ain Sokhan - Alamein High-Speed Electric Rail HSR.
SE&C’s CEO and managing director, engineer Sherif Nazmy stated that the project represents a turning point for Egypt as it allows Egypt to join other countries that use High-Speed trains.
For the first time in Egypt since 1854, a new electric railway with a length of 543 km and 250 km/h speed will be built to connect the Red Sea with the Mediterranean Sea (Ain Sokhna – 6 October – Borg Al-Arab – Alexandria – Alamein) in what is considered the biggest and longest railway line in the Middle East.
The project comes as a new Suez Canal linking the Red Sea and the Mediterranean in three hours, which will usher in a new pace of development through transporting people and goods.
Nazmy affirmed that developing the transportation sector and working towards adopting industry technology in Egypt, comes as utmost priority for the partnership. And to ensure this, an agreement with the Chinese partner on joint manufacturing of train wagons will take place in East Port Said Industrial Zone “ep” through NERIC, which will establish a plant to manufacture train wagons, in order to transfer and localize the manufacturing knowledge and know-how to Egypt.

التحالف المصرى الصيني "سامكريت مهندسون ومقاولون - الهيئة العربية للتصنيع سيماف - CCECC - CRCC" يأتي في المرتبة الأولى لتنفيذ مشروع القطار السريع "العين السخنة – العلمين"، بطول ٥٤٣ كيلو متراً، وبسرعة ٢٥٠ كيلو متر/الساعة، بتكلفة ٩ مليار دولاراً.
في صباح الخميس الثالث من سبتمبر وفي جلسة فتح المظاريف، حل التحالف أولاً لتنفيذ مشروع القطار السريع "العين السخنة – العلمين”، وصرح السيد المهندس شريف نظمى الرئيس التنفيذى و العضو المنتدب لشركة سامكريت مهندسون ومقاولون أن المشروع يمثل نقطة تحول كبيرة حيث تنضم مصر بهذا المشروع إلي مصاف الدول التي تستخدم القطارات السريعة، فلأول مرة فى مصر منذ 1854 سيتم تنفيذ خط سكة حديد كهربائي بطول ٥٤٣ كيلو متراً وبسرعة ٢٥٠ كيلو متر اً/الساعة ليربط البحر الاحمر بالبحر المتوسط (العين السخنه – 6 أكتوبر – برج العرب – الأسكندرية – العلمين)، حيث يعد الخط الأطول والاضخم في الشرق الاوسط.
ويأتي مشروع القطار السريع " العين السخنة - العلمين " كقناة سويس جديدة، حيث سيربط البحر الاحمر في العين السخنة بالبحر المتوسط في مدينة العلمين في ٣ ساعات، وأن هذا من شأنه أن يساهم في الإسراع بوتيرة التنمية في مصر من خلال نقل الركاب والبضائع.
وأكد نظمي أن تنمية قطاع النقل والعمل على توطين تكنولوجيا التصنيع يأتي على رأس أولوية التحالف، حيث تم الاتفاق مع الشريك الصيني علي التصنيع المشترك للعربات في شرق بورسعيد من خلال شركة نيريك NERIC (شراكة بين الصندوق السيادي والقطاع الخاص) في المنطقة الصناعية في شرق بورسعيد التي ستقوم ببناء مصنع لتصنيع عربات السكك الحديدية، والذي سيساعد على نقل التكنولوجيا إلى مصر وتوطينها.
